A very common teaching among certain Christians is that Romans 7 teaches that we will always be slaves to sin. However, that contradicts what the Scriptures really teach.

I wonder how common that it. It would be a contradiction of the whole tenor of Christian truth. Romans 7 does confirm that the old Adamic nature is not automatically eradicated at the New Birth. But that does not mean that it will dominate the believer.A very common teaching among certain Christians is that Romans 7 teaches that we will always be slaves to sin.
Romans 7:14-25 speaks of the unregenerated man who has come in contact with the law; but has not yet been born again through faith in Jesus Christ. He delights in the law of God in his inward man but does not yet have the power of the Spirit to overcome the power of sin.I wonder how common that it. what do you mean the flesh is not redeemable ?The flesh is indeed unredeemable; however this is not to say that it cannot be dealt with.
Rom 6:6, Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
Col 2:11, In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:
Rom 7:8, But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin was dead.
Gal 5:24, And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
Good grief, @Chrisophany.what do you mean the flesh is not redeemable ?
you do not believe in the Resurrection of the saints ?
1 Corinthians 15
Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed— 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. 54 So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.”
55 “O Death, where is your sting?
O Hades, where is your victory?”
56 The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
A spiritual body denotes an immortal body. A spiritual body is one that is dominated by the spirit, not one that is devoid of matter. The Greek word pneumatikos means a body that is directed by the spirit as opposed to one under the dominion of the flesh. It is not ruled by the flesh that perishes but by the spirit that endures. (1 Corinthians 15:50-58). A spiritual body does no mean immaterial or invisible but immortal and imperishable. Paul makes these parallels:
Earthly- Heavenly (verse 40)
Perishable- Imperishable (verse 42)
Weak- Powerful (verse 43)
Natural-Supernatural (verse 44)
Mortal- Immortal (verse 53)
hope this helps !!!
nope you said the flesh is not redeemable.Good grief, @Chrisophany.
Take my words in context for once.
We will receive a new, glorified body when we are resurrected...mortality will be swallowed up by life...and I was not denying this.
The subject matter was not the resurrection.
It had to do with whether, while we walk this earth, we can ever come to be without sin.
The answer is no (1 John 1:8).
It isn't redeemable. This is also what is commonly preached by most Bible scholars.nope you said the flesh is not redeemable.
did you forget that too ?
