Paul was using the literary tactic of IDENTIFICATION in Romans 7:14-25...

He identified himself as carnal in order to define carnality in order that he might win the carnal person to faith in Jesus Christ (see 1 Corinthians 9:22).

That Paul himself was not carnal when he wrote this is evident by virtue of the fact that he was at that point penning what we call holy scripture.

2Pe 1:21, For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

Actually, what Apostle Paul taught in Romans 7 about the flesh's connection with sin, even calling the flesh "this body of death", is exactly how it is.

Rom 7:21-25
21 I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me.

22 For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:

23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.

24 O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?

25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.

KJV

By that, Apostle Paul made it very plain that this flesh our spirit with soul dwells in, is a body of death, forever tied to the "law of sin". It cannot be saved. Christ's Salvation is NOT about a salvation of our flesh, no such thing. It is our spirit with soul that is saved in Christ Jesus, not our flesh body.

Gal 3:21-22
21 Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law.
22 But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.

KJV

All born in the flesh have been concluded under sin, except One, and that only One is Lord Jesus Christ. Only He was perfect without sin in the flesh, which is why only He is God's Promised Saviour.

So this matter of sin forever tied to the flesh is no big secret in God's Word. This fact was made plain even starting in God's Garden when Adam and Eve when God told them not to eat of the tree in the midst of the Garden, or they would die.

I think even this verse is enough to refute the said teaching and render it false.

Romans 6:22 But now having been set free from sin, and having become slaves of God, you have your fruit to holiness, and the end, everlasting life.

The flesh is indeed unredeemable; however this is not to say that it cannot be dealt with.

Rom 6:6, Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

Col 2:11, In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:

Rom 7:8, But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin was dead.

Gal 5:24, And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

A very common teaching among certain Christians is that Romans 7 teaches that we will always be slaves to sin.
I wonder how common that it. It would be a contradiction of the whole tenor of Christian truth. Romans 7 does confirm that the old Adamic nature is not automatically eradicated at the New Birth. But that does not mean that it will dominate the believer.

Romans 7:14-25 speaks of the unregenerated man who has come in contact with the law; but has not yet been born again through faith in Jesus Christ. He delights in the law of God in his inward man but does not yet have the power of the Spirit to overcome the power of sin.

The Adamic nature begets a willful sinner. The born again, born anew, born from above nature begets righteousness and holiness, no longer a willful sinner. The captive has been set free, no longer in captivity. Isaiah 61 is fulfilled. This is what Romans 6 through 8 are teaching, just as the video points out.

Isaiah 61
[1] The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me [Jesus of Nazareth]; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;
[2] To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;
[3] To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.

what do you mean the flesh is not redeemable ?

you do not believe in the Resurrection of the saints ?

1 Corinthians 15
Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed— 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. 54 So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.”

55 “O Death, where is your sting?
O Hades, where is your victory?”

56 The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

A spiritual body denotes an immortal body. A spiritual body is one that is dominated by the spirit, not one that is devoid of matter. The Greek word pneumatikos means a body that is directed by the spirit as opposed to one under the dominion of the flesh. It is not ruled by the flesh that perishes but by the spirit that endures. (1 Corinthians 15:50-58). A spiritual body does no mean immaterial or invisible but immortal and imperishable. Paul makes these parallels:

Earthly- Heavenly (verse 40)
Perishable- Imperishable (verse 42)
Weak- Powerful (verse 43)
Natural-Supernatural (verse 44)
Mortal- Immortal (verse 53)

hope this helps !!!

Good grief, @Chrisophany.

Take my words in context for once.

We will receive a new, glorified body when we are resurrected...mortality will be swallowed up by life...and I was not denying this.

The subject matter was not the resurrection.

It had to do with whether, while we walk this earth, we can ever come to be without sin.

The answer is no (1 John 1:8).
