Stone waterpots

For purity reasons, Jews used stone vessels for food and drink on the basis of their being less porous than the commonly used clay and therefore not susceptible to being defiled with impurities. These are large water pots like the ones for the water that Jesus turned into wine at the wedding in Cana.
