The Unholy Trinity Responsible for the Downfall of Modern Christianity

I know of one non-Trinitarian who is a dispensationalist (he's not on this board as far as I know.) I believe he started off as a Presbyterian before later figuring out that God isn't a Trinity, but he's held on to a few residual teachings.

    God’s name….

Where did you find that is something JWs believe? I am not sure myself. That might have been a forum error, or I just referenced the wrong person. I can't find any JW references that say this. That's a doctrinal difference. I'm a Christian, but I believe in Biblical Unitarianism if I were to...

    God’s name….

If I may, that is not what she is saying. She isn't saying people atone for their own sins. Rather, the wages of sin of death. I am not a JW, but JW's believe that salvation is possible because of Jesus the Christ's ransom sacrifice. JWs are Christians and they are highly scripturally accurate...

If I Were Building a Church for Satan… I'd Start Here

I should have been clearer. Christianity is the New Covenant, but what has come to be called "mainstream Christianity" is itself a separate religion even though it is also called Christianity. I agree with what you said here.

If I Were Building a Church for Satan… I'd Start Here

I have not read the Scofield Reference Bible nor dabbled in Darby theology, (I am planning to skim through those today to see how bad they are) but it wouldn't surprise me that someone would come along and fiddle with the Bible a bit here and there. Another one I can think of off the top of my...

    God’s name….

Technically the Bible never says to call on the name of Jesus to be saved. It says "Call on the name of the Lord to be saved" and it is quoted to an Old Testament verse where that Lord being called on isn't named Jesus. The New Covenant name for salvation hasn't changed or been replaced, but...

    God’s name….

In accordance with the Son of God has a God, is in the image of God, is a representation of God, has a Savior, but the Father does not have a God, nor is in God's image, nor has a Savior. For He is already the one and only God.

    God’s name….

Totally agree with everything you said, I just don't see that the Bible says that Son of God is his own God, Father, or Savior. Psalm 89 26He will call to Me, ‘You are my Father, my God, the Rock of my salvation.’ 27I will indeed appoint him as My firstborn, the highest of the kings of the...

If I Were Building a Church for Satan… I'd Start Here

Yes that is true. The New Covenant does do a bit of switching from an ethnic Israel to a spiritual Israel. Whereas in the Old Covenant there were some requirements to be an ethic Israelite, there were also some strict criteria for Gentiles who were proselytized into Judaism to be acceptable for...

If I Were Building a Church for Satan… I'd Start Here

This sounds like the Catholic church but just think that Protestants are cut from the same cloth as the Catholics and still hold several of their core doctrines. Do you think that if the Catholics completely missed the mark, but Protestants still follow a lot of their teachings, that the...

    God’s name….

When God is referred to explicitly by His name, it makes Him sound like He isn't the same person as Jesus, and not just a little bit, but a lotta bit. It's because they don't share the same names. However, long ago they most likely wanted take to make it less obvious. It is a pleasant surprise...

Why are Christians leaving their churches?

Interesting post. What I have seen is that sometimes are look for a reason to leave Christianity or the church, but completely converting to atheism seems more rare, though not unheard of. I am not sure there is a way to quantify that accurately, but I speculate if someone is already a theist...

Are You Following the Real Jesus—or a Counterfeit?

I believe you made an excellent point in your prior comment when you said "The Greek phrase καὶ θεὸς ἦν ὁ λόγος (“and the Word was God”) places theos first for emphasis. This is a well-known structure in Greek grammar to show nature, not identity. It’s not indefinite, it’s qualitative. John is...

Are You Following the Real Jesus—or a Counterfeit?

I know the conversation has gone a few different ways in this thread, but I would like to see if I can concisely address the points you made. I would like to say that I am not trying to change your mind or make you see it differently, but I do want to show that the Bible does say a lot about...

The Church decided the canon. How do you know you have the correct canon?

That's a good question. The Old Testament nor the New Testament neither directly nor explicitly identify the New Testament as being on par with holy writ Scripture the same way it does the OT. That isn't to say we should not consider the OT to be Scripture because I believe we should consider it...
