What if I don’t want eternal life?

Thank you Aunty Jane. I think we are pretty much on the same page. For me, faith is trusting that everything will work out in God's way, in God's time. I don't concern myself too much with the details; I just focus on God's will for me today, and I ask for his help to carry that out.

What if I don’t want eternal life?

One thing I have learned is that people will continue to do things that I don't like - some big, some small. And, I have no control. Heck! I have enough trouble controlling myself sometimes! Another thing I have learned is that I don't really know what is right - for me or for anyone else...

What if I don’t want eternal life?

Thank you PS95. I agree that it is a process, and I believe that I still have a long way to go.

What if I don’t want eternal life?

Thank you for your concern. Yes, I was sexually abused as a teenager, but not by anyone associated with the Church. That led to ongoing problems which affected me physically, mentally and spiritually. I would prefer not to go into further detail, except to say that I'm sure that my relationship...

What if I don’t want eternal life?

I am sorry that your father and your family were mistreated. Unfortunately, the Pharisees still exist - just in different garb and in different faiths. When the Church and its leaders fail to display the values that Christ taught, is it any wonder that people turn away? Unless those who...

What if I don’t want eternal life?

Does God condemn a person who turned away from God because he or she was sexually abused by a church leader as a child?

What if I don’t want eternal life?

Thank you; I tend to agree with your description, which is pretty consistent with what I've heard from a previous minister of mine. Actually, I belong to an Anglican congregation that is focussed on love for all; and, although the Bible is the basis for teaching, the message is always...

What if I don’t want eternal life?

Please explain how a God of mercy and love would condemn ANY person to an interminable existence of torment.

What if I don’t want eternal life?

Thank you. What you say is comforting. I have to admit to not having a clue about what lies beyond this life, and although I am re-reading Revelation for further clues, I'm not sure that I will be much wiser when I have finished. In the end, the choice will not be mine, and I just have to trust...

What if I don’t want eternal life?

Thank you for the feedback. That's not the way I understand that passage, but you are welcome to your opinion.

What if I don’t want eternal life?

I am white, 74 years old, living comfortably, and I have it much better than most. I regard this as more good fortune than good management. I pray and read scripture daily, and attend Church weekly. Yet. I see the miseries of this world all around, many perpetrated by people who call themselves...
