Here in America, demon possession is simply not believed, most pass it off as a psychological or psychiatric disorder. Most Christians think of it as only occurring in some far off heathen land, but not in the "civilized" West. But as we can see, we are getting to the end and such manifestations are going to become more common place. We already see demonic activity in the wave of crimes sweeping the nations in the daily news, but we seldom hear or view on the news about cases that more resemble those that Jesus dealt with, like the demoniacs or the boy possessed by a demon the disciples couldn't cast out. But these things still happen, even in 'civilized countries', and it will get worse as we see killings which no one can justify or explain, even the perpetrator. It seems we have 'spirits' that are already taking possession or in control of some people, and we just dont want to even contemplate it is happening...

Demonic influence is increasing steadily. Not only demonic possession, but oppression and obsession, as well. Demonic oppression is when the demons make your life miserable. One bad thing after another happens for no obvious reason. Someone loses their job, their home, their wife, their car within a short period of time. Demoic obsession is when demons flood your thoughts with distractions like lust, etc. It has been estimated that about 25% of our population suffers from demonic obsession or oppression. Demonic possession is rare, but increasing.

According to Fr. Jocis Syquia—the director of the Office of Exorcism and author of Exorcism: Encounters with the Paranormal and the Occult—lists 10 demonic possession gateways. They are the following:

Occult involvement This includes going to albularyos, faith healers, or mangkukulam, using anting-anting, and calling on spirits through a Ouija board or playing “spirit of the glass.” For example, in the case mentioned earlier, Fr. Syquia found out that all 50 of the schoolchildren he exorcised had psychic powers, because their parents had taken them to albularyos whenever they were sick.
Traumatic experience (sex abuse, physical abuse, etc. Deep-seated emotional wounds, intense negativity, and unforgiveness can make one more susceptible to evil spirits.)
Opening the third eye (certain types of Eastern meditation, etc. This happens when one is born with the ability to see spirits, has their third eye opened, or uses drugs to enter altered states.)
Contamination (victim of occult activities This occurs when one becomes a victim of occult practices—say, if someone hires a mangkukulam to put a curse on you.)
Sinful lifestyle (habitually living in sin vs committing a sin. If one continues to be obstinate about certain sins—especially mortal sins, spirits can attach themselves to one’s body little by little. )
New Age practices (Practitioners of reiki and tarot card reading often say that what they do is harmless, since all they do is read energies. However, the Catholic Church maintains that any practice that has to do with healing or manipulating energies creates openings for demonic attack.)
Unforgiveness (Holding grudges, ongoing resentment, etc.)
False Christian beliefs and practices (Heresies, blasphemies, etc.)
Pornography (73% of women and 98% of men report viewing pornography in the last 6 months!)
Satanism Self explanatory.

So, Jesus just didn't quite have enough power?

The answer actually is the Lord created man in His Own Image which is how man got free will

So, the pharisees chose to reject Jesus and decided they were happy with the religious devils that they were serving so Jesus is not going to violate God's will than man... has free will.

In other words, He is not going to force people to serve Him if they choose to reject Him... meaning they have allowed the seed of the Word of God to be choked out of their lives and caused to bear no fruit as Jesus taught about in Mark 4:13-20

Demons can do absolutely nothing without God's express permission each and every time, and only to the degree He allows them.

And demons are subject to me casting them out of my life and household using the mighty Name of Jesus. (Mark 16:17)

The only reason God allows them to do stuff is because God gave man authority and it's man that is allowing the devil to do stuff by refusing to submit himself to the Lord, resisting the devil so he'll flee (James 4:7)

In the story of Job it was God that placed the hedge of protection around Job until Job got in to being in fear that his children would curse God and die... and his fear is what caused the hedge of protection to be broke.

No, it's not for our own good... and God is not the One "allowing" the devil to tempt us...

well, there we have it.....demon possession with a religious tongue! What a convenient smokescreen which the possessed person is unaware of.....and possibly others aren't aware of either. He/ She might even be thought of as an extraordinary preacher of righteousness.

Correct. God doesn't tempt man. He allows demons to tempt man, so that he will grow in virtue. Virtues are special graces given by God to the soul for the accomplishment of particular objectives. They inhere in the soul and are subject to strengthening or weakening.

Demons usually use three of man's faculties in which to tempt him (but only with God's express permission). 1) Imagination 2) Memory (especially images, which is why porn is so dangerous) and 3) Emotions Demons are fallen angels, with angelic intelligence far above ours.

Here's HOW.... we can not be tempted

2 Peter 1:4
Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

There is no scripture that says God gives the devil permission to try and destroy His people. We live in a world full of darkness and sin so the devil doesn't need God's permission as he is in full rebellion against the Lord.

Now we do see where the Lord puts limitations on the devil as he can only tempt us with what is common to man and cannot use any supernatural wisdom / knowledge he has against us...

1 Corinthians 10:13
There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

but he does not need God's permission to tempt us as he us always trying to choke God's Word out of us so we don't bear fruit.

Jesus tells us about the 5 things the devil uses to choke the Word out of us so we do not bare fruit...

Mark 4:13-20

Here we see Jesus telling us the 5 things the devil uses to choke the Word and cause it to be unfruitful... IF these things are allowed to ENTER IN which we have the responsibility to not allow... see John 14:23 where Jesus says "If a man love me, he will keep my words" as in NOT allow it to be choked out of us.

The 5 things are... affliction, persecution, cares of this world, deceitfulness of riches, and lusts of other things

See, every person who is not a born again Child of God, has as their spiritual father... = The Devil.

This is why all unbelievers, DIE, and then go to the place that was "created for the DEVIL and His Angels"... while all the born again die and go to God who has become their NEW Spiritual "ABBA", = Father.

And the demon possessed started out somewhere, they started in opposition to the Lord, a son or daughter of the devil.

Jesus said to the Jews gathered before him "Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do."

Are there any examples of demons being cast out of a willing vessel? What would keep them out?
