First off,
Those that don't go to church regularly are going to have zero knowledge on this subject. If you dont go, then you dont know.

But of those that do go....

How is it for you when church staff changes?

When senior pastor changes happen, the whole culture of the church changes. (Of course)

But,
Most of the associate pastors usually have a change roughly every 2 years. Not always but that's the usual. Especially in Methodist churches (which are done by a central leadership)
But a lot of independent churches dont have that sort of thing. They hire and change associate pastors in an ongoing basis. (Including SBC churches that even though they are convention members each church is an independent church)

Usually the Youth Pastor changes the most....sometimes the children's Pastor.....occassionally the music director.

Then there's the new emerging role of executive associate pastor.....one that manages the staff and other pastors so the senior pastor doesn't have to be the "bad guy" by having difficult conversations with the staff.

My church has had just such a change. The executive pastor has changed. Now the old one has gone on to another job....no biggie. But he was anything but traditionally trained in a seminary....and it showed. That doesn't mean that he wasn't good at his job. Far from it, he was one of the best I've ever seen at it.
His replacement is very much seminary trained....a very dry, and accountant type.....the former was a sports coach. Great at forming up groups and teams....making people feel needed, wanted, and to be a part of something. The new one.....uhhhh....dont know much about him except that the senior pastor wanted him on staff. (Maybe to put some more regulated policies and procedures in place for everyone)

Meh, i dont care much about any of it because I really dont rely much on pastoral staff for much other than for them to do their jobs on Sunday and other times in the week but I dont personally have a lot to do with them otherwise. I just dont want to take up their time. (They work insane hours every week)
My Sister-in-law was once in college for a counseling degree. She worked at a church as a counselor as an externship. So she had a working/friendship relationship with their youth pastor....he moved out of ministry work because he was an idiot. Not very professional in his dealings. (Common) She got soured on church as a result.

BUT
How well do you handle staff changes?
Does the pastoral staff have a relationship with you?
Is it positive or negative?

What's your take?

Ever since I began to go to this church fellowship in 1984, all the leaders have come from within the membership, and it works well because that's probably what happened in the early church. None of our leaders have been specialty trained or 'ordained' but have come up through the ranks as it were. Men of God, their only teacher the Holy Spirit.

So I'm guessing but it seems to me that few people on this Christian Forum actually live Christian lifestyles that includes actually being a regular, participating part of a Church body....

But yet somehow, even though they are in abject defiance of several of Jesus's commandments, believe themselves to be a "Christ-like" person?

The delusions run deep.
I shouldn't be surprised...but I just am.

I didn't answer because your questions don't really apply to my church. I attend a smaller rural church and we don't have associate pastors. In fact, due to a lack of available pastors in the region, our pastor came out of retirement and is technically "part time". We share resources with other denominations in town to watch the children/sunday school during services. Some of the other UMC (and other denomination) churches around here have resorted to sharing pastors.

I get that...
And it's perfectly fine that you attend a small rural church. My church assists a lot of small rural churches with resources they cannot pull together themselves with various programs and services.

But possibly you have been in membership of other churches in your lifetime where there has been a pastoral change of some sort.

And that's kinda what I'm asking about.

It does not have to be a recent thing....just a lifetime thing.

You’re talking of a church other than Jesus’ church, where He alone is the Teacher and Pastor.

Jesus said to His disciples,

But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all ye are brethren.

I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.

I've worked in small churches and large churches and currently was called to one of the largest. Small churches are family and everyone knows each other and new members are welcomed, and the new pastor has to just be friendly. The medium large church tend to go with the personality of the pastor, AKA, great pastor great church. Pastoral change is drastic and members may follow the pastor to another church. Large Churches hire the best pastors and it doesn't matter who the pastor is, because they can afford the best and because the S. schools, small groups, educational, English classes, and more is what drives the church, and have a staff that is rare to change, even if the pastor changes.

Do you believe the Lord Jesus appointed those men as pastors in the small, medium, and large churches you mentioned? The Lord Jesus is the only Pastor and Teacher in His flock, across all generations, and He appointed no one as pastor, as written in the bible.

Yes. God has sovereign control over all aspects of your salvation and His creation.

What does that mean in reference to the [local] pastors you mentioned?
Same thing

Proverbs 16:9 -
The mind of man plans his way,
But the Lord directs his steps.

Proverbs 20:24 -
Man’s steps are ordained by the Lord,
How then can man understand his way?

Those are king Solomon’s proverbs, he is not the Lord God.

And where do you find the word of God?
We can find the word of God in the Lord Jesus Christ alone, not in the bible as many mistakenly opine.
Solomon was given the wisdom from God.
So????
Moses wrote the first five books.
Who told you Moses did that?
What's your point?
My point is all about Jesus as the only Pastor and Teacher in His flock. He appoints no one as pastor and teacher in His flock, where everyone is only brethren with each other. Those who profess to be a pastor today are not appointed and sent by the Lord Jesus.

Of course and Jesus is in all the books of the bible. All the books in the bible are written by men. All under the inspiration of God.
