The Voice You’re Following Is Deciding Your Future
There are two voices that show up every day of your life. One is loud, urgent, and impatient. The other is steady, quiet, and sure. One says move now. The other says, "Trust Me."
That first voice is the pull of the flesh. Scripture doesn’t dress it up. “There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death” ~Proverbs 14:12. It feels right. It looks right. It even sounds reasonable. But it’s leading somewhere you don’t want to go.
That second voice is the call of God. “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding” ~Proverbs 3:5. That’s not partial trust. That’s not when it makes sense. That’s all your heart, right when your flesh is telling you to do the opposite.
See, lust isn’t just about what you look at. It’s about what you lean on. It’s about who you believe when pressure hits.
Because the flesh will always try to convince you that your way is better. That you’ve waited long enough. That you deserve it. That you can handle it. And God answers that straight: “He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool” ~Proverbs 28:26.
That’s strong language, but it’s true. Following your own heart without God is not freedom. It’s a setup.
This is where the fight gets real. Not in theory, but in the moment. When nobody else sees it. When the decision is right in front of you.
Do you move ahead of God, or do you wait on Him?
Because trust isn’t passive. It’s a choice. “In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." ~Proverbs 3:6.
That means you stop and bring God into it before you move. Not after you’ve already made the decision.
Lust rushes. Trust waits.
Lust grabs. Trust submits.
Lust says, “I know what I’m doing.”
God says, “Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil” ~Proverbs 3:7.
And if you don’t guard that inner life, the battle is already lost. “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life” ~Proverbs 4:23. Everything flows from there. Your thoughts. Your choices. Your direction.
That’s why Scripture doesn’t tell you to play around with temptation. It tells you to get distance. “Remove thy way far… and come not nigh” ~Proverbs 5:8. Don’t stand at the door of what will pull you down and act surprised when you fall.
Out here in real life, this is where men and women either stand or collapse.
“The integrity of the upright shall guide them: but the perverseness of transgressors shall destroy them” ~Proverbs 11:3.
One path keeps you straight. The other slowly twists you until everything breaks.
And make no mistake, it will break. “The wicked are overthrown… but the house of the righteous shall stand” ~Proverbs 12:7.
Lust tears down. Trust builds something that holds when the storm hits.
So don’t overcomplicate this. Every day, you are choosing which voice to follow. You can lean on your own understanding and walk the road that feels right. Or you can trust the Lord with all your heart and walk the road that leads to life.
One will cost you everything. The other will save your life.
