I was recently reading an article about a man that, when his financial services business was failing, he kidnapped an old couple and tried to get the wife to withdraw $350k to give to him and if she did not cooperate he would kill the husband.

The kidnapper met his own wife at a church bible study years before and they had 6 kids together and were a Christian family until he backslid and decided to serve the devil. After reading this article, I read some of the comments down below and one person who claimied to be Christian said this:

For some reason people seem to hate Christians because they have standards. Christianity teaches that we can never live up to those standards, but it is important to try. So yes Christians are hypocritical, but that is because we have high standards. I would rather that, then have no standards and be authentic.

This is a great example of a Christian who has been taught error who obviously does not know what the Lord teaches in His Word making themselves Christian in name only (CINO).

So let's focus on the error this CINO is speaking of which is what many preachers and churches teach these days which is - we just aren't able to stop sinning falsely claiming Christians just cannot live up to Christian standards – THEY ACCEPT LIVING IN SIN AS BEING A NORMAL PART OF CHRISTIAN LIFE AND CHRISTIAN LIVING

People believing this error do not know that only the overcomers will be allowed in to God’s Kingdom, as in those that overcome sin by submitting themselves to the leading of the Holy Spirit based on what the Lord teaches in His Word. That would be ALL His Word, the whole counsel of God, not just bites and pieces.

Revelation 3:5
He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.

Revelation 21:7
He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.

Revelation 3:4
Thou hast a few names even in Sardis which have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with me in white: for they are worthy.

We see in God’s Word that sin is not acceptable but most Christians ignore these instructions and warnings or they are otherwise ignorant of these passages even being in God’s Word (ignorant does mean a person is stupid, it just means they don’t know when they should know!):

1 John 3:8
He that committeth sin is of the devil

John 8:34
Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.

1 John 3:9
Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

1 John 3:7
Little children, let no man deceive you: he that DOES righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.

1 John 3:6
Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.

1 John 5:18
We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.

1 Corinthians 15:34
Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame.

1 John 2:1
My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not.

1 John 1:7
But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.

Galatians 5:16
Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

2 Peter 1:4
Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

2 Peter 2:14,15
Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children:
Which have forsaken the right way, and are gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness;

Romans 6:1,2
What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?

Romans 11:22
Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.

Romans 8:1
There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

Romans 8:6
For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

Romans 8:13,14
For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

2 Timothy 2:21
If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honor, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.

So what are real Christians doing to not be like the fake CINO “christians”??? The walk (life) in Newness of Life putting off the old man as they put on The New Man which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness (Ephesians 4:24)

Ephesians 2:10
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

It's not a matter of trying to earn salvation thru good works... It's a matter of being obedient verses being disobedient!

Those that accept the calling of the Lord and become new creatures in Christ Jesus abiding in Him doing good works by the power of the Holy Spirit within as the Lord leads... these are true children of God.

Those claiming to be saved not walking in obedience have rejected the ordination and calling of the Lord and are the children of disobedience who refuse to put on the new man and walk in newness of life to stop being servants of sin...

Colossians 3:5-9
Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:
For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:
In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them.
But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.
Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;
And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:

Ephesians 4:24
And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

Romans 13:14
But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.

Hebrews 9:14
How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

Romans 6:4-6
Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:
Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

As these scripture references indicate, those not accepting the calling of the Lord to be led by the Holy Ghost into walking after the new man are in disobedience... which will NOT end well for them unless they repent of their sin and get with the Lord's game plan!

Is it your testimony that you have fully ceased from sin?

Ah, our first contestant claiming they are incapable of keeping themselves from sinning through the power of the Holy Spirit.
(this is understood by the question you are asking which let us know you believe nobody can cease from sin)

James 4:17
Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

I'm not willing or knowingly committing sin. Are you doing things you know are sinful and you decide to do the sin anyway? If so, that's very dangerous ground and makes one separated from the Lord as this is choosing to turn away from the Lord to engage in sinful behavior.

Now a couple of days ago I dropped something on the floor that demonstrates I'm not perfect in the literal sense as Jesus was when He was living on earth. He never made any mistakes like dropping things on the floor, forgetting to do something, or doing anything in error because He was perfect in His earthly life in the literal sense and was the only man in the history of man to literally be perfect.

But my short coming of the mistake of dropping something is NOT a sin unto death (separation from God). Making mistakes (falling short of God's absolute perfection) which is the type of sin that is automatically cleansed by the Blood of Jesus IF a person is walking in the Spirit (walking in Light) because it is not a sin unto death since it is simply a mistake, falling short of absolute perfection.

1 John 1:7
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

When a person knows something is sinful and they choose to do the sin anyway, that is the type of sin that is "sin unto death"

1 John 5:16-17
If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and
he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto
death: I do not say that he shall pray for it.
All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death.

Have you ever seen these passages???

1 John 3:6
Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.

1 John 5:18

We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.

Is there any reason why you choose to not believe these passages and the ones in the first post?

Ah, our first contestant claiming they are incapable of keeping themselves from sinning through the power of the Holy Spirit.
You've just disqualified yourself, so never mind, question answered. You have ascribed false words to me, you are a false witness.

So it goes.

Much love!

No, when someone questions the person who posted scripture that instructs God's people to sin not insinuating all still sin, that person is obviously in the camp that believes Christians can never cease from sin.

You in fact are the one being disqualified for not following the instructions the Lord gives in His Word wanting to play word games which is why you framed your question to read: "Is it your testimony that you have fully ceased from sin?" in your attempt to gaslight me.

I answered your question and you apparently don't like or agree so you return to claim I'm the problem because I'm posting the instructions the Lord gives in His Word and it's my position that we can in fact obey the Lord through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Philippians 4:13
I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me

That's what most people have a problem with is they don't know how to walk in the Power of the Holy Spirit.

Get over it. You've lied about me. That's the way it is. Word games? I put you on the spot, and you didn't like that is all.

So no, you have not ceased from sin, and since you are doubling down on your lie, what does that tell us? Review your instructions?

The point is . . . you are accepting and even defending your own sin. That is NOT walking in the Spirit.

Much love, and hope for something better!

You've lied about me.

No, the way you framed your question let's me know where you stand.

You believe it's not possible to cease from sin through the power of the Holy Spirit which your follow-up comments verify.

Thanks for sharing.

This is where you are flat out wrong, and you've born false witness of me. That's the way it is, and you are better off if you accept it and move on.

Your comments have demonstrated that you have not ceased from sin, and I appreciate that you believe you can overcome this, please do!

Much love!

you've born false witness of me

Only in your imagination and you are better off if you accept it and move on.

If you believed Christians can cease from sin you would be happily agreeing with that but seeing you speak as one who does not believe Christians can overcome sin, we know where you stand on the topic.

Thanks for clearing that up for the readers.

Somehow you have truly deluded yourself, sorry to see that happen.

The fact is I know fully well that we overcome all sin in Christ, as I've told you before, though you reject the hearing of it because you seem to prefer your pride.

Continue or not as you will, but you are in a bad spot here, and if you can't accept my statements to you, best to just drop it and walk away, better than to continue in the course you are on.

You ignore my plain words while continuing in your false witness. Do you truly suppose this pleases God? This is walking in the Spirit? It most certainly is not.

Does it betray the answer you refuse to state? Yes it does. This too can be overcome in Christ.

Much love!

You question to me was false witness, IF you actually believe Christians can cease from sin.

Are you a sinner?

Trying to gaslight people falsely claiming they are bearing false witness (as you do often) is nothing more than deploying a diversion tactic so you won't have to discuss the topic at hand which is something people do when they don't know God's Word good enough to discuss the topic intelligently.

Having been on various Christian forums for decades, I've run across quite a few people who like to talk as if they no longer sin, while not actually saying it. So then someone who admits to sinning, the common answer is, "What's wrong with you, don't you know God didn't save you to sin?" and stuff like that.

It's manipulative, prideful, destructive.

I've learned to ask a test question, "have you yourself ceased from sin?" I've learned the various answers and manners of reply will tell me all I need to know.

You are really fighting against this! Asking you to clarify your status isn't false witness. I'm just asking you to be up front about yourself, as you castigate others.

Whether you do or do not sin has nothing to do with my beliefs on this point. Asking you this isn't about me, it's about you. Your resistance, your false witness, these tell me about you. No matter what bluster you may post, the fact is, I know what I believe, and I know what you say. Whomever you think you are fooling, you are not fooling me, and you are not fooling God.

Fleshy responses only betray the speaker.

Much love!

Those ignorant of God's Word wouldn't having been deceived by carnal man made religious teaching masquerading as being the wisdom of God when in reality it's just the musings of a low level devil.

I sincerely hope you are able to grow up spiritually and overcome sin and stop being a "sinner"

Those claiming to be saved not walking in obedience have rejected the ordination and calling of the Lord and are the children of disobedience who refuse to put on the new man and walk in newness of life to stop being servants of sin...

Titus 1:16
They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.

1 John 2:4
He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

A lot of people think they already made it and/or get complacent on their gift of salvation.

Is it possible not to sin?

If we stay with the words of Jesus Christ as we should , the answer is clear: He did not teach that sin is something we must keep doing. He called people to repent and truly turn away from it and live differently.

Look at how He spoke:

In John 5:14, after healing a man, He said, “Sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee.”
In John 8:11, He told the woman, “Go, and sin no more.”

He would not command something impossible. His words show that stopping sin is not just a dream, it is something He expects.

He also taught that sin comes from within the heart. In Mark 7:20–23, He explained that evil thoughts, pride, and wrongdoing come out of a person. This means the real battle is inside, not just outward actions.

But He did not leave people alone in this. He promised help. In John 14:16–17, He said the Spirit of truth would be with us and in us. And again in John 14:26, the Spirit would teach and remind us of His words. So the power to overcome sin is not by our own strength, but by God working in us.

Jesus also showed that obedience is the key. In John 14:15, “If ye love me, keep my commandments.” Love and obedience go together. And in Matthew 5:48, He said, “Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father in heaven is perfect.” This is a high calling, but it shows the direction He wants us to walk.

At the same time, He understood that people may fall while learning. That is why He taught us to pray in Matthew 6:12, “Forgive us our debts.” So there is mercy when we stumble, but not permission to remain in sin.

So Yes, it is possible to live free from sin, because Jesus commands it and gives help for it. But it is a path we walk daily, turning away from sin, growing in obedience, and relying on God.

Yes, by the same faith by which we are saved.

Romans 5:1-2 KJV
1) Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
2) By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

The context here is in loving others equally as God does. We should always maintain the context.
