Young Vet Needs Prayer

Several months ago, I heard the struggles of a young military vet who was asking where he could find a local food bank. I offered to bring him food ...and regularly take him eggs from my chickens.

He's close to the age of my oldest kids, in his 30's. I've been taking him eggs periodically. He had no electricity, water, or barely any food. He was driving to the city to donate blood and get $90 for a little food, while looking for a job. It took over 6 months and finally found one. But his first check is today.

His mom passed away last year of cancer. He was questioning God, drinking ....got a DWI. That was a hindrance from getting a job. I think it was a God thing that I met him bc I've encouraged him and talked to him about the Lord. He's started turning back to God.

Last night he messaged me. He was having to use his last gas in his truck to get home and wasn't sure how he'd get to work this morning. Today is his first payday ....but he didn't make it to work because he had an accident last night before he could get home. He was T-boned. Praise God he's alive! But he has head injuries ...idk what else. He sent only photos, no explanation yet.

Please pray for him. He's just over a month sober and he was so excited about the new job.

What do you think about a givesendgo acct for him?
I would hate to have this latest setback make him turn away from the Lord-what a tough go-- so yes prayers for his physical & spiritual health!
I'm thinking that if he sees believers backing him in a tangible way in his struggle - it will go far with him to SHOW him our love.
He obviously has no medical coverage and now will be saddled with a hospital bill..? - one one paycheck?

edited to ask-- wait does he have insurance due to being a vet? If so - great! but I would still like to donate to him to help him get going.

I think this would be a great idea.

I'm thinking he probably does have insurance. His first name is John.

I wasn't to going to mention it, but I've been helping him when things get tight ...not a lot, but enough to get gas when he doesn't have it, and a few dozen eggs a week, etc. He's hungry for someone to talk to. I think it's a comfort for him that I listen bc of his recent loss of his mom. :/ And too, I lost ....or my son Matthew graduated to his eternal home with the Lord 6 years ago at age 17. I didn't lose him ... we're just separated for awhile. It's kinda hitting me hard today.

Anyway, I don't want to break any forum rules. Can you talk to admin first? Idk how that works.

That's wonderful that you have helped him. Praying for his recovery.

Yes as a veteran he does have free medical care.

I did know about your son. I can't imagine the pain of losing a child. I am so very sorry that happened to you and especially after all you have suffered. Graduated is the way to say it for sure, and one day you will be reunited. Keep the faith. Every tear will be gone. Much love.

It's an amazing gesture.

I haven't heard from him since this morning, but the last thing he texted was "home resting." I'm sure he doesn't feel up to doing much. I need to ask him if he needs me to bring food. I've never been to his house. I always just meet him in a public place and we talk about half an hour or 45 minutes, leave eggs and maybe a little cash with him, and we part ways. But we text about every other day. He doesn't have a church family, but watches online sermons and he'll send me links to what he's listening to ...and I send him links to things I listen to (sermons, etc).

Awesome! I was going to ask you if he had fellowship anywhere. It's so hard with wacko churches out there- but there are true believers in the churches and I had to give up looking for the perfect one. It's not there. We aren't perfect. That's so great that he has you- it definitely sounds like a God- thing to me!

Hope he can get back to his job soon. Was his car totaled? How can he get to work?

From the photo, yes, I'd say it's totaled. He was hit on the driver's side door.

He sent a photo from the ambulance... head and left eye bandaged, blood on his face, and his face and eyes were swollen.

That's awful. I guess it could have been worse- I always try to look for a reason to be grateful- it helps..
But sheesh- a new job and no transportation? How can he get there now?-- I'm thinking he probably had no insurance on it so no rental. this stinks. Will it be repaired by other guys insurance ?

He'll probably share more details after he rests a bit. If it was the other person's fault, he may end up with another vehicle ...or money toward a car. Insurance doesn't always pay what they should.

I've heard from John this morning. Someone is repairing a car to drive for work. His truck is totaled and he didn't have insurance. He said he's doing alright physically, but still resting. I asked him if he needed food. He asked for dog food for his dogs.

I told him I would bring dog food and eggs. :)
