And not fight back. Because you must please Jesus and agree to be destroyed by evil.
Because God,you think,would be disappointed if you didn't.

Some even try to lead others to believe God in the Old Testament isn't every bit of who he said he was.
When he led his faithful to war. Slaughtered the unborn,infants,children,women,men.
All in an effort to extol the virtues of pacifism in the face of evil?

unless the Lord has done it?

Jesus was God the Father of the Old Testament. If we're Christ like as Christians,when Christ came to conquer evil,we aren't suppose to concede to the power of evil and let it overcome those who are Christ like. Not when Christ is a war God who stands against evil.

Do not resist an evil person?

You all preach what others should do. Succumb to violence without resistance.

But would you really let a man break into your house and rape your wife in front of you,and do nothing to stop him?

If so,guess what?

Look at it this way. The Lord through prophets and Apostles gave us tools to deal with these situations. All you need is God.

@Gray_Joy. The claims being made here about home invasion, rape, and murder are not part of the actual report. Those details have been added in and change the entire argument. What was actually described is verbal harassment and alleged threats, not an immediate physical attack in the moment. We need to stay with the facts as presented.

As Christians, we also have to ask, "What would Jesus do?” Jesus did not teach retaliation or taking matters into our own hands in anger. He taught us to take up our cross, deny ourselves, and follow Him, even when wronged. That means self-control, restraint, and leaving vengeance to God.

Protection in genuine, immediate danger is one thing, but justifying assault based on escalated or added claims is not consistent with the example of Christ.

I gave one OT and two Nt. There are 100's more. Proverbs are for us today. How many do you need to convince you. 1 John 4:4-Greater is He that is in you than he who is in the world.

I’m not adding anything beyond what has been publicly stated in the reports and the pastor’s own comments. The issue here is not whether threats were made, but whether there was an immediate, unavoidable physical threat at the moment the assault took place. Those are different things.

Even if someone has been harassed or threatened over time, Scripture still does not give us freedom to take personal vengeance or act in anger. We are called to self-control and to leave justice in God’s hands and in lawful authority.

The question remains the same - does the response reflect Christ? Jesus calls us to take up our cross and follow Him, even in the face of wrongdoing. That standard does not shift based on how justified we feel in the moment.

Who cares what anyone here thinks should be done?

What was done is what matters.
A domestic terrorist chronically threatening a pastor,his family,and congregation for years, while police do nothing,got his backside kicked.

And some people here think that was just wrong!

If he had,or does,follow through with his years of threats what then?

Repeated claims or alleged threats are not equivalent to those crimes having occurred. Conflating the two is not clarification; it is escalation beyond what was reported. If the discussion is about accountability, it must remain anchored to what is actually documented, not expanded by inference or assumption.

If those additional allegations cannot be sourced directly to the report or official statements, they should not be stated as fact.

As I have said,you didn't watch the video of the pastors news conference. Which is why you don't know what I'm talking about.

@Gray_Joy, I have been addressing exactly what you have now clarified: allegations made by the pastor during the media interview.

Nothing in my posts denied that he reported those allegations.

My point has consistently been that allegations reported in a media conference are not the same as verified facts or matters established in the official record. That distinction is important, especially when discussing serious criminal claims.

Saying "the pastor alleged it" is different from stating that those crimes occurred as established fact. My comments were directed at maintaining that distinction.

Whether I watched the video or read the transcript does not change the principle. The standard remains the same: allegations should be identified as allegations unless independently verified.

If we're both now agreeing these are the pastor's allegations, then we've clarified the issue.

Tony Spell should be very thankful for two things: 1) That he didn't unalive his neighbor, which he could've easily done; 2) That his neighbor didn't have a knife or some other weapon, which he would've been fully justified in using.
