Rather than beginning with modern English definitions, it examines the biblical concept of "generation" as it is used in Scripture and considers whether it can also refer to an age or prophetic period.
Since in Matthew 24 because Jesus was speaking to human beings, and that the parable of the fig tree generation shall not pass - "generation" in that context is referring to the normal life span of human beings.

In Psalm 90:10, the normal life span is expressed by being 70 years.

So...

Brethren in Christ Jesus:

Don't allow these word fallacy preachers to deter you from the simplicity that is God's written Word. When the Greek word genea is used there in Matthew 24:34, that word in the Greek can point to an offspring of people, or to an age of people living at a certain time. In the context of what Lord Jesus was covering there in that Scripture, the SIGNS we are to be watching leading up to His future return at the end of this world, with those SIGNS as "these things" He mentioned, it is unmistakable that Jesus was pointing to the final generation living on earth that will see His future 2nd coming. This is not simply my opinion nor my interpretation either. There is no other interpretation possible based on that context of what Lord Jesus was revealing to His saints.
Davy there is a lot of nuances in what Jesus actually said, its multiple levels all wrapped in one verse sometimes. Some prophecy have sometimes a dual meaning or will be completed later in stages, is is not so simple and please know know I I triple check everything. What Jay wrote makes a lot of sense, can I ask you, did you read the document, its well worth it, the last few pages puts everything together nicely at lease have a look. in any case the truth is we are in the end times and must prepare, lets be ready for Jesus second coming and be certain to have oil on our lamps. I watch and probably have identified the "man of sin" many contenders at this time but I see what is coming and it wont be fun for any of us. Be ready.

Blessings.

@LoveYeshua Davy is holding onto his stubborn streak, but if you look closely his position it, in all reality, is fairly close to what I have posted.

Davy is pointing to the generation that is alive during the Little While period at the end of the seventh age.

I on the other hand point to what has been prophetically given in all of the Mt Olivet discourse in both Matthew 24 and 25. Although Satan, the beasts and the Little Horn will be imprisoned during the first 1,000 years of the seventh age, Satan is preparing His Good and Faithful servants to run interference during the 1,000-year period season in an attempt to impede the establishment of God's everlasting kingdom. Sadly Matthew 25 does not get much of a look in when we consider the End Times during the Seventh Age.

Shalom

Ps LY, You have encouraged me greatly in that you have considered/read the attached Document three time and looking to read it some more as well. It is very hard to get your laughing matter around ideas that seem strange because they challenge what has been taught as apparently God's "truth"/words.
I understand I am stubborn too as you saw once or twice already but that document changed my understanding, I kept a copy on hand for bible study, it will be useful and I thank you again.

Cheers

That's wrongly allegoricalizing God's Word, turning God's written Word to mush.

You trying to understand Spiritual things with your Carnal Mind is your (mush) failure.

1 Cor 2:
[14] But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

As I clearly said: “ALL of Jesus Teachings ARE Truths.”

Parables are story forms of speech, that reveal an expectation of an event.

Parables spoken / taught by Christ the Lord Jesus…are Highly Signifiant… Expressly Because of WHO the speaker / teacher IS:
Christ Jesus… whom Can NOT Lie!

One Speech / One Teaching Out of the mouth of Christ Jesus… “TO” One Crowd…
And the One Message spoken / taught…
Becomes…
Every Listening Individual in the Crowds…
Personal Liberty, FREEWILL, To Believe…
The Parable is A fanciful Story…
OR
The Absolute Truth.

I expressed, my View… Absolute Truth.

Regarding … The day of the Lord…
Many “Parable” Teachings Reveal “Signs”
That MUST, SHALL Occur (come to pass),
BEFORE…
The “Secret” ( unknown to manKIND )…
Time, Day, Hour… OF Every manKIND of Being SHALL BE …
* Delivered unto the Lord God…
OR
* Rejected from being WITH the Lord God.

And THAT ^ Delivery OR Rejection…Hangs Expressly ON:
Every individual ManKinds OWN Liberty and FREEWILL TO … TAKE His Offering… AND BE WITH or Refuse His Offering and Be WITH-OUT … the Lord God Almighty.

Many ARE Called, FEW ARE Chosen.

Christ the Lord Jesus, Offered ALL of manKIND:
A:
Door, Path, Way… To “Secure” Their own Personal Free Choosing, Commitment, Oath, Word, Vow, Surrender, of their WHOLE, body, soul, spirit… TO the Lord Gods, Offering… TO “Be MADE and KEPT” Securely WITH the Lord God Almighty, BY, Through, Of His Power, Once And Forever”.

^ THAT is called “A Prepared manKIND of being”!

All the “signs”, revealed in Jesus’ Parables, ARE Notice TO the “Prepared”… Their own “hour of Delivery TO See their Lord God Face to Face” (as He IS= Presently “unseen” Spirit)…
IS … a Time-Line moving Closer and Closer TO THAT Hour!

1 John 3:
[2] Beloved, now are we ( the Prepared ) the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

Meantime…
The Prepared…ARE…

1 John 4:
[17] Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.

The “prepared”…ARE…already MADE and KEPT Perfect-ED By and IN CHRIST the Lord AND recorded IN the Lambs Book of Life…

Heb 10:
[14] For by one offering “he hath perfect-ED for ever” them that are sanctified.

Nothing I have said undermines God Word.

1 Thes 5:
[23] And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

If you do not understand the Power of Gods Offering and Spiritual Making (and Keeping) of a mans Wholeness IS in regard to a mans “body, soul and spirit” and Gods Power to Keep that “Making” Secure…
THAT Dilemma is your Lack of Spiritual Understanding,
not mine.

God Created…
Christ the Lord “MAKES” Gods (willing) creations, Restored, Anew, Good, holy, Wholly Perfect-ED and Secure-ED To FOR EVER, BE WITH the Lord God Almighty.

John 1:
[1] In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
[2] The same was in the beginning with God.
[3] All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

Glory to God,
Taken

Davy there is a lot of nuances in what Jesus actually said, its multiple levels all wrapped in one verse sometimes. Some prophecy have sometimes a dual meaning or will be completed later in stages, is is not so simple and please know know I I triple check everything.

I well understand all that. Two of the major Signs Jesus gave in His Olivet discourse have dual fulfillments. The not one stone atop another is one, and the "abomination of desolation" from the Book of Daniel is another. But with these examples one can easily see the previous one did not fulfill all the parameters of the original prophecy. For example, Antiochus IV in 165 B.C. 'almost'... fulfilled the "abomination of desolation" prophecy to a tee, but not completely. Likewise with the not one stone atop another, the Romans did not destroy all the standing stones at the temple mount in 70 A.D.; the Wailing Wall was part of the western wall complex of the temple complex, huge stones still standing there today.

What this means is that God's Word is written in simplicity IF it is heeded as written. The one thing it is not, it is not like man's philosophy where everyone can have a different opinion on its meaning.

Sorry, I reject anything written that leaves the original 'context' that Jesus was giving in His parable of the fig tree. Only His introduction of the parable is the parable part in Matthew 24. The rest is an explanation of what He meant with the parable of the fig tree explicitly applied to the very end of this world to include the day of His future 2nd coming. Anything that leaves that context has left the context of that specific Scripture, and should be rejected.

Prophecy is difficult, complicated, I am far from an expert on this topic but we were told to watch, this we can do, I see that, we are in the end times, signs are more frequent now and are increasing, I was warned also that Jacob's trouble would begin and a second exodus would take place. all this is linked with Christ's return I believe will be this generation.

Davy, I too reject anything written that leaves the original 'context' that Jesus was giving in His parable of the fig tree.

Matthew 24:32 was answering the question when? When would the end of the visitation of the father's iniquities be, and when would the start of the age be when Israel would be redeemed. The question asked was, Tell us,” they said, when will these things happen, and what will be the sign of Your coming and of the end of the age?

Hosea 6:1-3 gives us a clue.

Hosea 6:1-3: - A Call to Repentance
6:1 Come, and let us return to the Lord;
For He has torn, but He will heal us;
He has stricken, but He will bind us up.
2 After two days {within God’s timeframe of reference[1]} He will revive us;
On the third day {within God’s timeframe of reference} He will raise us up,
That we may live in His sight.
3 Let us know,
Let us pursue the knowledge of the Lord.
His going forth is established as the morning;
He will come to us like the rain,
Like the latter and former rain to the earth.

Now in Daniel 7:12 we are told this: -

Daniel 7:12 - 12 As for the rest of the beasts, they had their dominion taken away, yet their lives were prolonged for a season and a time.

We also know that when God begins gathering the Israelites to Himself will occur when the fulfilment of the time of the Gentiles, i.e. 2,300 years, is completed that after that all of Israeli will be saved. {Romans 11:25b-26}

So when we read Mtthew 24:32 we see this unfolding: -

Matthew 24:32b: - "When its branch has already become tender and puts forth leaves, you know that summer {i.e. the summer season} is near.

The sign we will see is the Fig Tree budding new leaves, and fig trees begin budding new leaves in the early Spring and from when the tree buds the new leaves until the Summer Season begins 96 days will pass following the rule that One prophetic Day has a duration of one year in man's timeframe, such that the beginning of the Seventh Age and the Season begins 96 years after the Fig tree buds.

Then in Matthew 24:34, Christ tells us that the seventh "generation/age" will not pass away until all that He spoke of, occurring in Matthew 24-25, will unfold to their completion.

Now the question you are forcing the reader to answer is, "Does Davy present the "right/original" context with respect to his understanding of Matthew 24:34?

I will leave it up to the readers to draw their own conclusions.

Shalom

[1] The length of time of a Day within God’s timeframe of reference, within mankind’s timeframe of reference is, within my understanding, a period of 1,024 {solar} years and I have come to understand that a day of the Lord has the same duration as a generation/age. The beginning of the last age contains the summer season of the harvest of the souls of men who have become His Saints/redeemed people.

I believe we are in that generation too. And one of the things I don't see the Churches today doing is preparing brethren for what is coming according to God's Word about the end. As Christ's Book of Revelation has gone a long time being a mystery, it is now open for this final generation in full. Yet some are working for darkness to hide it and strew the brethren, so they must be warned, and some of us have been called with discernment to do that.

Funny how you'd think I would fall for that Ellen White junk. She predicted the time of Jesus' return for the 1800's and failed. The day for a year application is meant ONLY in Scripture where God gave it, NOT with man toying with it for his own aims to try and measure prophecy, like you have done.

The CONTEXT of the Matthew 24:32-37 Scripture where Jesus commanded those in Christ to learn a parable of the fig tree is linked to His future 2nd coming at the end of this world, not simply at the end of an 'age', like a Church Age how the Dispensationalists believe from Darby's teachings.

So yeah, I'll repeat the meaning by Lord Jesus in that Scripture so other brethren can judge between you and me...

Matt 24:32-37
32 Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:

A fig tree, when its leaves start to show means summer time is just around the corner, thus Lord Jesus is using spring to represent the time leading up to His future 2nd coming represented by symbolic summer harvest. The subject in this Chapter began with His showing His disciples one of the main Signs of the end of this world, that there would not be one stone atop another there in that area of the temple mount.

And when His disciples asked Him what would be the sign of His coming AND the end of the world, they were pointing to the literal end of this present world on the "day of the Lord", the "last day" of this present world, for that is when Jesus is shown He will come per Scripture to gather His elect.

We know that Sign of not one stone atop another has not happened yet, simply because there still exists huge stones at the temple mount today, even Islam's Dome of the Rock. Thus the 70 A.D. destruction by the Romans only represents a partial fulfillment.

The idea of the fig tree goes back to Jeremiah 24 about the two baskets of figs, the good basket that represents Judah, and the evil basket that represents the "tares" that crept in among Judah. God promised there that He would return those of Judah (represented as the "house of Judah") that went captive to Babylon, back to Jerusalem, and not pluck them up again, and the evil basket would return with them. In 70 A.D. the Romans scattered the "house of Judah" out of the holy land, and only in the last two centuries have those Jews been returning, 1948 becoming a nation again.

33 So likewise ye,
when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.

The Who, What, When, Where, questions are requiring an answer to understand Lord Jesus' above statement:

Who... is Jesus speaking about that will "see all these things"?
The generation that will experience ALL... of those Signs He gave, the last Sign being that of His future 2nd coming to gather His saints.

So what's the matter with some brethren's thinking about that, since it MUST mean the final generation on earth that will see Jesus coming in the clouds? One does not have to be a rocket scientist to understand that in simplicity.

What... will they experience?
Christ's coming in the clouds to gather them to Him and to those resurrected on the "day of the Lord".

When... will that be experienced?
On the "last day" of this present world when the future resurrection will occur with His coming.

Where... will that occur?
From both Heaven, with Jesus bringing the raised saints with Him, and then from the earth with those saints still alive "caught up" when He comes.

34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass,
till all these things be fulfilled.

The previous verse is not to be skipped in favor of this above alone, just so some can go off on tangents that have no relation to the context of what Jesus said. His meaning above is simple; the generation that will see all those Signs He gave, including... that of His future 2nd coming, will not pass until ALL those Signs happen in their time, and once again, the very last Sign He gave being that of His 2nd coming to gather His faithful Church.

35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but My words shall not pass away.

Jesus was referring to the events that will occur on the "day of the Lord" with the above, like 2 Peter 3:10 with man's works being burned off the earth on that day of His coming, and the earth trembling again per the end of Hebrews 12, etc.

36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but My Father only.

Jesus' above statement should be enough warning to those who try to calculate the day of His future coming, because someone claiming... to know the day of His coming is to call Jesus a liar by what He said above. NO ONE KNOWS THE DAY OR HOUR OF JESUS FUTURE COMING. That means the year too brethren. We can only know when His coming is CLOSE by watching the Signs He gave in this Matthew 24 Chapter.

37 But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
KJV

Jesus continues the main SUBJECT, which is what? The day of His future 2nd coming. This means Preterists who want to try and push these Signs back in history are trying to taint and modify what Jesus showed with these Signs being only for the last generation that will experience His future coming.

Davy, the question that you need to prove beyond a reasonable doubt is that your understanding of scripture is much better than anyone else on this forum.

What in the world kind... of statement is that? It's like asking me if I understand English or not, my native language!! What an ignorant statement! Hey, I do actually have 142 university credits also at an accredited U.S. University, just so ya know. I wonder how in the world I made it through all those credits without understanding the English language, huh?

Even the KJV Bible, with all the lazy complaining brethren about it, is very easy to understand in its present English format. And using a Strong's Exhaustive Concordance is well enough to find out manuscript word meanings when that's needed. And even though I don't speak Hebrew or Greek, I have one of the best KJV study Bibles on the market with many of the Massorah scribe notes in the margin from Christian David Ginsburg's Massorah compilation, The Companion Bible compiled by the excellent 19th century British Bible scholar E.W. Bullinger.

My experience of your rebuttals against what I have posted fall into the category of "false arguments" were you put down your opponents with your words calling what they have presented as being only "mush." Do your posts pass the "not much" test at all?

Shalom

You know that is a LIE, and you will answer for it.

I spend more time presenting Bible Scripture as written in simplicity, instead of just throwing out opinions with outside data arranged in outlines to look scientific like you do to deceive brethren.

Since in Matthew 24 because Jesus was speaking to human beings, and that the parable of the fig tree generation shall not pass - "generation" in that context is referring to the normal life span of human beings.

In Psalm 90:10, the normal life span is expressed by being 70 years.

So...

View attachment 86890
Yes, 70 years for a normal life span. But why would you eliminate a generation of strength of 80 years................and they fly away.

Return oh Lord, how long.

Psalm 90

10 The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.

11 Who knoweth the power of thine anger? even according to thy fear, so is thy wrath.

12 So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.

13 Return, O Lord, how long? and let it repent thee concerning thy servants.

And why are you using 1967 and not 1948, when Israel was reborn as a nation?

You are NOT teaching Jesus' teachings. You are teaching MAN's teachings that come from somewhere else. It's not difficult at all to grasp when someone leaves the actual written Bible Scripture that is written in simplicity.

To have the absolute Truth from God's Word you'd first have to actually read and heed what God's Word says as written, and then study enough of ALL of God's Word to know about two or more Scripture witnesses about the same matter. Instead, you just dream up words that are irrelevant to what is actually written. That's why I called them 'mush'.

You can point your finger and wag your tongue in accusations without substance all day long…

Big boys can at the very least identify, quote, another, BEFORE accusing it is not Biblical Teaching!

Since you say, scripture is “simplistic” and imply you “over others” have the “understanding” and your issue is about “parables”…

Why don’t you…identify what “you believe a parable IS”…
And how “a parable applies” to Jesus’ Teaching…the same as any man who Spoke in parables in Scripture?

What is the sign of your coming and the end of the age?

The end of the age and the sign of His coming is not the Day of the Lord. The sign of His coming occurs at the 6th seal and not the 7th trumpet.

We know that Sign of not one stone atop another has not happened yet, simply because there still exists huge stones at the temple mount today, even Islam's Dome of the Rock. Thus the 70 A.D. destruction by the Romans only represents a partial fulfillment.
I am in absolute shock that you understand this.

I'm just telling like it is, letting the chips fall where they may. And I can see right through you, I'm not fooled one bit. By their fruits you shall know them my Lord Jesus said. And if you can't even remain in His Word line upon line, but instead push a bunch of junk from men's doctrines, then your fruit is bare for all to see.

Let's see what Christ's disciples asked Him to tell them what the Sign of His coming would be, and just WHAT TIME they were referring to...

And these are just a few of the English Bible translations that clearly show they were asking Jesus about the end of the WORLD, and not simply a Church Age.

Matt 24:3
3 And as He sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto Him privately, saying, "Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?"
KJV

Matt 24:3
3 And as He sat on the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto Him privately, saying, "Tell us, when shall these things be? and what (shall be) the sign of Thy coming, and of the end of the world?"
ASV

Matt 24:3
3 And while He was seated on the Mountain of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, "Make clear to us, when will these things be? and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the world?"

Matt 24:3
3 And when He was sitting on mount Olivet, the disciples came to Him privately, saying: "Tell us when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of Thy coming, and of the consummation of the world?"
Douay-Rheims

Matt 24:3
3 As Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives, His disciples came to Him privately and said, "Tell us, when will this happen? What will be the sign that you are coming again, and when will the world come to an end?"

End of this WORLD, not simply a Church Age. When did Jesus come at the end of ANY past Church Age??? Such an idea is just stupid, and it's not at all difficult to know that idea shows the fruit of the children of darkness. Jesus' return is still sometime in the future to us.

The 6th Seal has TWO PARTS. The 1st part is about the coming of Satan and his host like "untimely figs". Do you even know what the "untimely figs" are?????

Yes, 70 years for a normal life span. But why would you eliminate a generation of strength of 80 years................and they fly away.

Generation is from the root word “generate”, which is when something “begins”…
Often the “beginning”, (regarding humans) can be established by a time-line of “years”, that establishes its “beginning”…

Gen 2:
[4] These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens,

Gen.5
[1] This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day that God created man, in the likeness of God made he him;

Established “generations”…grow, change, produce offsprings of “new generations”.

A generation thus is about “its” beginning…AND, from it, it’s next…generation.

The Heavens, the Earth had a beginning…we witness changes, while a final “change is yet to come.”

With Noah, (approx 500 years passed, before he had produced and offspring…
So that was his beginning (and following thereafter the next generation)…

Today, (20-30 years), is a broad common timeline of a generation.

Manufacturers of “products”… autos, soap, sodas, toothbrushes etc. often introduce “same identified logo brand and product” as a new generation, they market as improved…
(and some of the “next” generation products, and people … Are NOT an improvement).

Glory to God,
Taken

Yes, 70 years for a normal life span. But why would you eliminate a generation of strength of 80 years................and they fly away.

And why are you using 1967 and not 1948, when Israel was reborn as a nation?
I don't think the average life span in the end times is 80 years. Do a google search for "global average life span of a man". Check out the AI result as... 70-71.

Regarding 1967 or 1948 as the base year, let's look at the math...

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1948 + 70 years = 2018. Jesus returns, not later than the end of 2018.

Then if we subtract 7 years, 2018-7 years = 2011 that the 7 years of Daniel 9:27 begins not later than.

Neither happened, right ? Even using 80 years for a generation, that window is closed.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1967 + 70 years = 2037. Jesus returns not later than, the end of 2037.

Then if we subtract 7 years, 2037-7 years = 2030 that the 7 years of Daniel 9:27 begins not later than.

So the 1967 based window is open, while the 1948 based window has been closed.
