"The US says it will live stream its first firing squad execution by the military since World War II. Nidal Malik Hasan, a former army psychiatrist who shot and killed 13 people [and wounding 32] at the Fort Hood military base in 2009, was sentenced to death in 2013. The execution is set to take place on December 3."

Even among those who accept capital punishment as a lawful penalty, an execution being live streamed raises some concerns.

I imagine it will not be live streamed on platforms such as YouTube but will be live streamed with limited circulation so that any of the hundreds of family members who had loved ones shot on that day can watch if they so choose.

Many other people are outraged about this treasonous attack on our service men & women, and will watch to see that justice is enforced.

If a person accepts capital punishment, should they be willing to see it carried out?

The death penalty has been discussed in other threads, so I would like to see this one confined to discussing a Christian response to a PUBLIC execution.

Murder 13 & wound 32.
Consider yourself lucky that you are being executed quickly by firing squad
One last piece of advice for you, accept Christ before they fire.

I know you support the death penalty, and I understand your reasons.

How do you feel about the execution of Hasan being live streamed?

I respect the right of people, impacted by this treasonous act by a major in the US Army,
to watch the sentence being carried out.

My concern is how widely the visual record will be available to children.

I think all types of violence, killing, torture, violence, cruelty etc should be banned from public viewing.

With regard to the "general public" (the public as a whole) I agree.
However, I would support the families of victims being given the option of seeing the sentence carried out.

Hangings used to be a public spectacle. So was crucifixions. Would you watch the live stream?

I've seen real homicides and real self-defense shootings on the Active Self Protection channel. I've seen the Magruder film. I've seen any number of cinematic homicides and war battles and of course execution by crucifixion on television or the silver screen or in video games. We even have a link to film of the Nagasaki bombing on this very website.

Aren't we numb to violence yet?

What's one more?

I can't begin to imagine a Christian wanting to see that!

So you also choose to kill instead of giving mercy!
If the law allowed it would you forgive someone without penalty who murdered your whole family & then let them live in your own home ?

The question is simple :-
If the law allowed it would you forgive someone without penalty who murdered your whole family & then let them live in your own home ?
