Wisdom and Understanding
Deuteronomy 4:5-7 Behold, I have taught you statutes and judgments, even as the LORD my God commanded me, that ye should do so in the land whither ye go to possess it. Keep therefore and do them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the nations, which shall hear all these statutes, and say, Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.
As children of God, His "great nation," we are instructed to keep and do His statutes and judgments...wherever we are. That is the wisdom and understanding others see in us.
1 Chronicles 22:11-13 `Now, my son, Jehovah is with thee, and thou hast prospered, and hast built the house of Jehovah thy God, as He spake concerning thee. Only, Jehovah give to thee wisdom and understanding, and charge thee concerning Israel, even to keep the law of Jehovah thy God; then thou dost prosper, if thou dost observe to do the statutes and the judgments that Jehovah charged Moses with concerning Israel; be strong and courageous; do not fear, nor be cast down.
Again...wisdom and understanding is connected to "keeping the law of Jehovah thy God" and only Jehovah gives us this wisdom and understanding.....
Proverbs 2:6 For Jehovah giveth wisdom, From His mouth knowledge and understanding.
Proverbs 4:5, 7 Get wisdom, get understanding, Do not forget, nor turn away From the sayings of My mouth. The first thing [is] wisdom -- get wisdom, And with all thy getting get understanding.
Proverbs 5:1 My son! to My wisdom give attention, To Mine understanding incline thine ear,
But, are the following of statutes and judgments, which is the wisdom the world sees in us, the wisdom and understanding we are to "get" from His mouth? Perhaps the wisdom is to follow and do as He commands and with that wisdom....we get understanding from His mouth. First get wisdom and then "with all thy getting get understanding." "Give attention to" the wisdom of His statues and judgments and then from "His mouth" He speaks in our ear and we receive understanding....spiritual understanding of the written word.
Colossians 1:9 Because of this, we also, from the day in which we heard, do not cease praying for you, and asking that ye may be filled with the full knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding,
Daniel 2:20-22 Daniel hath answered and said, `Let the name of God be blessed from age even unto age, for wisdom and might -- for they are His. And He is changing times and seasons, He is causing kings to pass away, and He is raising up kings; He is giving wisdom to the wise, and knowledge to those possessing understanding. He is revealing deep and hidden things; He hath known what [is] in darkness, and light with Him hath dwelt.
With wisdom is might and He gives that wisdom to the wise....those that follow His statutes and judgments. He then gives "knowledge to those possessing understanding." The knowledge is, I believe, the revelation of the "deep and hidden things," which is spiritual understanding.
Revelation 13:18 Here is the wisdom! He who is having the understanding, let him count the number of the beast, for the number of a man it is, and its number [is] 666.
Those who have the understanding, the spiritual knowledge as He reveals it, are to "count the number" and know the beast is a man....the beast are many men.
