Does God care more for himself than he cares for us?

Do you think that he is also the just Judge of all humans unless Jesus saves some? That''s one of the reasons Jesus came to release true believers from God the Father's judgment against them (called "justification"). Psa_82:8 Arise, O God, judge the earth; for you shall inherit all the nations...

What does the hell doctrine say about the character of God?

@Keiw, how can you tell that the passages about eternal suffering are symbolic? In the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus tells several times of a place where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Isn't his description literal of suffering because of God's justice?? Mat_8:12 while the sons of...

What does the hell doctrine say about the character of God?

Ask the people who invented and make them happen.

What does the hell doctrine say about the character of God?

It says that God is everyone's divine Creator-Judge, the perfect God of justice, who rightly condemns everyone for our rebellion against him. The only escape route by way of the Judge's not-guilty verdict was paved by Jesus' death and resurrection.

Why are Christians leaving their churches?

True, but being an active member in a Bible-preaching and a Bible-discussing small group enables a believer to grow spiritually to prepare better for heaven.

Western Trinitarians, do not follow the early church teaching.

So, you believe the second Person of God always existed but joined humanity as Jesus the Son?

Western Trinitarians, do not follow the early church teaching.

The problem with the KJV's (and apparently the Eastern Orthodox) translation of "only begotten") for Jesus is that they translated it that way by confusing two very similar, easily confused, Greek participles that mean "only begotten" (the mistaken one) and "one and only" or "unique" Son, the...

What is YOUR "thorn in the flesh"?

But was it a literal thorn off a thorn tree, or was he speaking figuratively about some physical, spiritual, or mental attack on him from Satan? That's the real question. But it really doesn't matter, because Satan attacks us in different ways against different people.

What is YOUR "thorn in the flesh"?

    What do you mean, @pepper?

What is YOUR "thorn in the flesh"?

The whole point of the Book of Job is not suffering but that true faith endures and perseveres throughout life, as it did in spite of the extreme suffering of Job.

What is YOUR "thorn in the flesh"?

Your last statement is confusing. I believe that God the Father and the second Person of God planned Jesus' death and resurrection before creation. Under God's inspiration during Pentecost, Peter said so: Act 2:22 “Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a man attested to you by God...

What is YOUR "thorn in the flesh"?

So, what was it, pepper? No one seems to know except you. Why is that?

What is YOUR "thorn in the flesh"?

What kind of work are you looking for, Simonides?

What is YOUR "thorn in the flesh"?

Thank you, @Verily, but since God gave me his peace about my "thorn," I have accepted it as part of my life. I am no longer "in" pain; instead, I "have" pain. There's a huge difference. Besides, God gave me the responsibility to control it and many means to do just that. I thank him!

What is YOUR "thorn in the flesh"?

Another example of God's restraining Satan is in Job 1 and 2, where in the contest between God and Satan over Job's faith, God kept Satan from taking Job's health but then allowed Satan to take his health but not his life.

What is YOUR "thorn in the flesh"?

Brother Simonides, I think that Paul kept the description of the "thorn in the flesh" purposely vague instead of specific to enable readers to relate it to any physical, sinful, or mental distraction that Satan will try to use to derail us from doing God's callings in this world. Through...

What is YOUR "thorn in the flesh"?

I think that people are way too interested in their pursuit of their temporary idols that they think give them security, happiness, and comfort. I have read the Bible cover to cover repeatedly for about the last 60 of my 82 years. Each time, the Spirit gives me new connections and applications...

What is YOUR "thorn in the flesh"?

Yes, God did teach me to sympathize with others a lot more through my pain.
