Where did the Bible come from? - Shot out of a canon

Yes, God spoke in various ways in the past, before people had the full bible: “God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made...

More on the deity of Christ

Thanks for explaining. It makes much more sense to me now. As to why those translators chose to call the Word "it", I have no idea, because to judge from the way they translate John 1:14, they also believe that this same Word became flesh. I suppose it is similar to the way in which some...

Infant Baptism is not given in scripture.

I would say that goes against so many scriptures that tell us that our salvation is all of God. Paul wrote to the Christians at Ephesus: “And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the...

Where did the Bible come from? - Shot out of a canon

If God's life-giving words rarely come through the bible, what is the standard by which they can be judged as being God's word? We'd be left with each individual Christian saying, "I believe this because such-and-such happened." or "....because I had a vision" or whatever.

    I am God

Saying Jesus is not God goes against the opening of John's gospel: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.” (Joh 1:1-3 NKJV) John...

Infant Baptism is not given in scripture.

What I was trying to explain (sorry if I wasn't clear) is that this is one of the areas where genuine Christians differ. Paedobaptists believe that baptism is commanded as the way to be saved; Baptists and others with baptistic beliefs hold that Baptism is a sign after a sinner is saved. Both...

    Limited atonement !

Not so. Genesis tells us that when God had finished creating: “Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good. So the evening and the morning were the sixth day.” (Ge 1:31 NKJV) I am not a Roman Catholic, and I believe that Adam was good before the Fall. If he was...

Infant Baptism is not given in scripture.

Well, I and plenty of other Christians believe that the bible teaches baptism is a sign following belief. Jesus had been crucified when Philip told the Ethiopian that he could be baptized if he believed with all his heart, and when the apostles spoke to the Philippian jailer.

    I am God

Yes I agree. I have edited my earlier post to take account of the change you made in your post 3 in this thread. When I first replied, that post just said, "We and Jesus Christ are one............"

Infant Baptism is not given in scripture.

That is just not true. The repentant thief on the cross beside Jesus was not baptized, yet he was saved. Sinners are saved by believing on the Lord Jesus Christ. Think of the jailer at Philippi. He asked the apostles how he could be saved. They told him to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ...

    I am God

Not in the same way that Jesus Christ and His heavenly Father are one. Christians are said in the bible to be "in Christ." They are also told that they are all one: “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in...

    I am God

Nowhere do we read in the bible that Jesus said the words translated into English as "I am God." However, He did say things that even His enemies recognised meant that He was claiming equality with God the Father: “"I and My Father are one." Then the Jews took up stones again to stone Him...

Infant Baptism is not given in scripture.

You must have a tremendously wide knowledge of the many local churches in the world to be able to say that most of them are fake and run by Satan. I am not sure what your post has to do with the thread, though, which is about infant baptism.

More on the deity of Christ

You start your post claiming to know what my church teaches, but as far as I am aware, we don't know each other, so you don't know what church I belong to or what it teaches. I agree that "logos" is often used in the bible to refer to words spoken or written by God or others. But for the...

More on the deity of Christ

Who do you mean, I wonder, by the trinitarian translators? I ask this because as far as I am aware, the translators of versions like the KJV, the NKJV, and others that refer to the Word as "He" were all believers in the Trinity. Besides, what is more important is what John actually wrote in...

More on the deity of Christ

But all of that, (the Word of John 1:1 being an "it") ignores what John writes just a few verses later about the same Word: “He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him. He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. But as many as received...

    Limited atonement !

I am sure that briughtframe52's God is the same God I believe in, described in the bible as almighty. Far from being impotent, He is omnipotent: “And I heard, as it were, the voice of a great multitude, as the sound of many waters and as the sound of mighty thunderings, saying, "Alleluia! For...

Don't fall into the trap, of thinking your faith is solely your doing - it is your doing in part, but praise God daily

Where did I make the mistake of the Gnostics? My post had very few of my own words. I just said: "Or you can thank God for doing it all:" and "Paul didn't tell the Christians at Ephesus, "You've done something!" No, he says "God has made you alive, God has made you sit together in the...

Don't fall into the trap, of thinking your faith is solely your doing - it is your doing in part, but praise God daily

Or you can thank God for doing it all: “And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, among whom also we all...

The Bible is Father-Centric not Christo-Centric

But your claim seems to ignore the opening verses of John's gospel, which state clearly that the Word was in the beginning with God, and the Word was God: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made...
