    What Denomination was Jesus?

To be clear..in the KJV, the term 'priest' was in use in the OT long before the Catholic Church came into being about 300 AD (I'm not sure of the date). It's used in 404 verses in the OT and 74 in the NT.

    What Denomination was Jesus?

Wow. What a divergence of ideas presented here. What denomination was Jesus? Paul answered it clearly: Galatians 4:4-5 (KJV) 4 But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, 5 To redeem them that were under the law, that we might...

    Paul

There's much discussion in this thread centered around the word: perfect. As stated several times in the past few days (I've been offline), the only thing perfect is God. However, Paul uses it more often to mean 'complete' or 'mature' than referencing Gods' being perfect. Look at the verses...

    Paul

Looking at the verses below, Paul writes of Abrahams' faith in God, ie, taking God at His Word as why Sarah bore Isaac. Romans 4:18-22 (KJV) 18 Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be. 19 And...

    Paul

Being a Pharisee, Paul was extremely knowledgeable in the Old Testament. Did Jesus show him secrets ('hidden manna') in the OT? I doubt that. Things that God wanted hidden stayed hidden - Deuteronomy 29:29 The secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those things which are revealed...

    Paul

Apparently, your understanding of what Judaizers are and my understanding are different. What I was taught about them by a very knowledgeable Bible teacher at church was that they were attempting to put the Christians under the law...not just part of it. My understanding is confirmed by the...

    Paul

Your memory of who went where and when far exceeds mine. Don't get old. My mother told me 25 years ago that she gives a good imitation of having a memory. I've reached that point myself. Like you, I'm unaware of when the Gospels were written. But if Paul was with them at the time, perhaps...

    Paul

All four Gospels were written by 4 of the 12 that were with Jesus during His earthly ministry. Paul definitely would not have been with them in the years following in which they wrote the Gospels. He was still 'out to destroy' all followers of Jesus per Acts 8:1 above. Nor did Paul consult...

    Paul

Companions of Paul? That seems very unlikely. For the most part, the 12 were laborers, fishermen, etc. Meanwhile, Saul was a 'more religious than thou' overly-righteous Pharisee, highly educated, and probably came 'from money' that could afford his education. So, other than perhaps passing...

    Luke 1:43

There's no denying that Mary is the flesh and blood mother of Jesus, the Christ. The Bible said it, I believe it. Mary was a faithful Jewish woman, born of 2 Jewish parents, that believed God. She was human being in every way. She was chosen by God to carry His child. However, I find it...

    Paul

There seems to be much skepticism here regarding the authority and authenticity of Pauls' writings to Gentiles. Over in Eschatology & Prophecy forum, in the "Was Paul false prophet?" thread, I posted a few minutes ago the following (copied in its entirety and pasted below) Some might say that...

    Was Paul a false prophet?

Some might say that the Book of Jonah was completely false except that Jesus referred directly to his writing: Matthew 12:38-40 (KJV) 38 Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, Master, we would see a sign from thee. 39 But he answered and said unto them, An evil...

    Paul

I just went back and reread your question. Now I understand it. Sometimes it takes a while for things to sink in for this 73 year old geezer. We will all be judged one day as Paul wrote: Romans 14:10-12 (KJV) 10 But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy...

    Paul

I'm not clear as to what your question(s) were in the first place. Please elaborate. I'm a senior citizen with some cognitive decline... To those under the law, yes, works are of the law...eating only Kosher food, animal sacrifices for sin (not since 70 AD, though), observing the sabbath...

    Paul

Why separate law and grace? That’s a very important question. Consider the following two portions of scripture – one by Paul and the other by James: Ephesianans 2:8-9 (KJV) 8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any...

    Paul

2 Timothy 3:16-17 (KJV) 16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works. One cannot pick and choose what to believe...

    Paul

Ummmm....we're talking about the Grace of God here, not a reasonable judge following the law or police officer.

    Paul

Perhaps the biggest reason people don’t fully comprehend Pauls’ writings is they are contrary to what they’ve always believed as church members. And mixing Pauls’ writings (grace) with the 4 Gospels and the epistles of James, Peter, John and Jude (law) for doctrine only causes confusion. What...

    Biblical Mary

Aren't you contradicting yourself in those two statements. 'Natural conception' is when the sperm enters the egg. Also, it's only the Catechism of the Catholic Church that claims Mary was sinless, and even goes so far as stating Mary was created by immaculate conception (CCC #491 & #961)...

    Biblical Mary

Why is it that Mary's immaculate conception, sinless her entire life, and full of grace is found ONLY in the Catechism of the Catholic Church and Bible versions based on the Latin Fulgate, itself a creation of the Roman Catholic Church? How could the other Bible translations POSSIBLY MISS those...
