    Repeating Prayers

There's nothing wrong with repetitive prayer as long as we ask for the right thing (God's mercy) and do so with humility. Very much like the prayer of the blind man (Mark 10:47-48), the Canaanite woman (Matthew 15:22-25), the tax collector (Luke 18:13) and others.

    Her eyes behold afar off

Such an eagle is the soul of those who, through obedience to God’s commandments, mount up above the 20,000 things of this world (Luke 14:31) with which the Devil captures most men (with eyesight limited to 200,000 cells) and make their nest, the meditation of their heart, on heavenly (high)...

    The Potter And The Clay

And to keep it centered and to properly form the vessel, it takes all ten fingers... working God's commandments in unison. Equally important, is for the clay to be sufficiently moist and therefore malleable. The gentle mourning of a contrite heart can do that.

The Scriptures are God's Greatest Gift to Mankind

If one is well disposed - Matthew Henry and John in this case - he can extract honey even from questionable verses, as the scripture says, "To the pure, all things are pure..." (Titus 1:15)

The Scriptures are God's Greatest Gift to Mankind

For what is worth, in the Greek that verse from Psalm 138 (137 in the Septuagint) reads: I will worship toward thy holy temple, and give thanks to thy name, on account of thy mercy and thy truth; for thou hast magnified thy holy name above every thing.

    Generational Curses ???

Nobody finds it peculiar that the verse says unto the 3rd and 4th generation? It is as if it is saying, I don't punish the 1st and 2nd generation, but only the 3rd and the 4th. If the intention was to say all generations up to the 4th there would be no need to mention the 3rd... Since God is not...

Of Love, Of Boys, Of Babies

I understood it as an allegory about virtues (girls) coming together with the mind and producing the fruit of righteousness... It wasn't my intention to cause a dissension. Forgive me, icxn

Of Love, Of Boys, Of Babies

It reminded me of the Song of Solomon, which is equally - if not more - fleshy, if one sticks to the letter.

You are the one with the... divine inspiration. I'm just the interpreter. :-) Thank God!

Of Love, Of Boys, Of Babies

Let's see if a spiritual interpretation is possible... :-) Wisdom’s handmaidens* (Proverbs 31:15) in the mind’s understanding passing through the mind’s night air, our darkened thoughts, warmed by our meditations, coming into the heart, the heaven’s lobby, to greet us, and the other old men...

    The Sparrowhawk

The scriptural saying, "if any man speak in an unknown tongue... let another interpret" (1 Corinthians 14:27) is true here. You spoke in nature's tongue and I merely interpreted: Psalms 19:1-4 The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork. Day to day pours out...

    The Sparrowhawk

There's a certain spiritual truth to this: Thoughts of flattery in the morning light of our spiritual awakening, the screeching of the sparrowhawk (demon) of vain ambition, as it spots our ascent above the misty river of sin and the chilling water of insensitivity. Its quarry, a soul...

    Why Matthew 5:29-30?

They are certainly scriptural idioms, the phrase ‘right hand’ is mentioned quite a lot and not always in a literal sense. While they (right and left) don’t always have the same meaning, in general terms, anything that is right means good and anything that is left is evil or simply inferior. For...

    Why Matthew 5:29-30?

The obvious meaning is that, if you have a relative (right eye) or friend (right hand) that cause you to sin, it is better to avoid their company (lose a member) than to be cast into hell with them. The not so obvious meaning is: If you have knowledge, understanding, wisdom or perhaps even...

can you explain whole bible to me :)

The kingdom of heaven is like... [lots of parables to choose from] Let's see... the bible is like a seed. You plant it in your heart by reading and believing it. You water it by studying it. You cultivate it by works of repentance. You help it grow with the manure of your failures. You make...

Mount Zion, in the far north

In the Greek, verse 3 translates: 3 The city of the great King is well planted on the mountains of Sion, with the joy of the whole earth, on the sides of the north. Jerusalem, the city of the great King is indeed situated on the north side of mount Sion. Allegorically, north parts, where...

    Forgiven

Then he would be imitating Saint Paul (1 Corinthians 15:9) and the prodigal son (Luke 15:21) and will receive from God a lot more than just forgiveness (Luke 15:22-24), for a broken and humbled heart, God will not despise (Psalms 51:17).

'Death is swallowed up in victory' -When?

Simplicity is a great virtue. It is the shortest and safer way to heaven. The intellectual path may be more scenic, but is long-winded and treacherous. Quote: Walk before God in simplicity, and not in subtleties of the mind. Simplicity brings faith; but subtle and intricate speculations bring...
