The day I saw the Host of Heaven

The question still stands. If it were shown to you from the Bible that certain facts that you have included in your story disprove the validity of your story, would you publicly declare that what you saw was a hallucination?Would you submit to the authority of Scripture as the measure of all...

    Should we read the Apocrypha?

Luther was wrong on many accounts. I'm Reformed, and I love many Luther works, but he rejected the books of James and Ecclesiastes. P.S. Luther's works aren't inspired either

    Replacement theology

Tim, Paul seems to say otherwise - that Abraham's offspring is Christ, not Israel. How do you derive your position from scripture?

    Should we read the Apocrypha?

Yes, they are profitable. No, they are not inspired, nor have they ever been treated as such. They were never laid up in the temple (Josephus), and were not considered inspired or canonical (Athanasius, Festal Letter #39). There are many, many, more arguments, but this should suffice.

    Replacement theology

Actually, replacement theology is that term used to describe those who believed that national Israel of the Old Covenant was "replaced" by the people of God of the New Covenant, thus the term "replacement theology." The term is generally applied to non-dispensationalists that interpret the seed...

The day I saw the Host of Heaven

There before me, like something from a computer generated movie, stood rank after rank of Angels in full armor, banners and flags hung limp in the air. They had swords, shields, helmets; there were thousands of them! If it were shown to you from the Bible, that angels will never appear with...

    Ask a catholic

(DrBubbaLove;36060) Am asking you what those men would call it since they cannot call it scripture. :naughty:The question wasn't asking for an argument from silence. The New Covenant era special revelation of God to His people whenever given via oral transmission was always subject to the...

    Ask a catholic

(DrBubbaLove;36004) Let me ask it another way. What would the men Timothy taught (and the men they taught..and so on) call the things which are not written in scripture that Paul told Timothy to teach them? Are you saying that the "content" of what was taught by Timothy, and what the men he...

Quote:Originally Posted by biblicalthought Isn't Paul's letter to Timothy Scripture? Paul's letter certainly is considered so now and am sure Timothy thought the letter special. Obviously since we have the letter today, others thought it special too.But Paul did not ask Timothy to teach others...

    Do you fear God?

The fear of God is the beginning of all wisdom. If you do not fear God, you have no wisdom, and in the words of the King Shlomo, are but a fool!

Anyone know of a good podcast on Romans? I'm going through one right now, but would like others to compare.

How does Christianity differ from other religions?

There are three inescapable, indisputable, and unavoidable aspects of reality that any religion or philisophical system must deal with, or they're nothing more than hot air.1. Sin2. Death3. the GraveChristianity is: 1. the only answer to the problem of sin, 2. the only victory over the...

"Does God Have a sense of humor?"

Yes...the Bible certainly depicts the humor of God.

    Predestination .

Electing some doesn't necessarily imply God elected others to hell. Being "saved" is just that. We were all on our way to hell and God didn't "have" to save any of us. Even if He saved just one it would have been amazing grace. Election simply states that while all were on their merry ways...

    Is Salvation really a gift?

Allow me to evaluate your argument in terms of logic. I will test the validity of the “form” of your argument. This has nothing to do with whether the premises are true or false. The most pivotal statement upon which everything hinges is the following summarized syllogism:Sin seems to be a...
