Jesus himself said that people can only believe in him if God allows them to do so. Catholics believe in Jesus because God permitted them to do so. To say that they should be atheists and deny Jesus is an outrageous statement.

The poster to whom you are communicating will interpret this verse to mean that Jesus lovingly KILLS all of his "enemies" and thereafter he does away with death.
