THE CHURCH IS NOT THE BRIDE OF CHRIST

Christ is the Head of His church/body just as a husband is head of his wife. A body has a head, true? It's just an allegory to help us understand that we are one with Him.....or at least betrothed with having the firstfruits (earnest) of the Spirit until the marriage is consummated so to...

THE CHURCH IS NOT THE BRIDE OF CHRIST

I'm not sure I understand all you are saying, whether we are quite agreeing or not. Many natural branches were broken off the tree, so to speak, that we Gentiles (unnatural branches) might be grafted in to it. But it is also true that unbelieving Jews can be grafted back into their tree again...

    Uncovering the Devil's Strategy

No, he spoke the truth...he was not yet perfect in the sense of the kind of perfection that we only receive once our vile bodies have been changed, which is after physical death. That occurs once our race is finished...which his wasn't yet over at the time of writing Philippians. He wasn't...

THE CHURCH IS NOT THE BRIDE OF CHRIST

He means that they are not cast away irrevocably.... the door is open for Jewish souls to be saved and regrafted back into the tree through faith in Christ, the same way we all are saved. Whosoever will among them. And scripture does differentiate between the "Israel of God" and "Israel after...

    Rightly Dividing Calvinism

What do you mean by "judging others"? Are you talking about condemning others or discerning others? We are certainly called to discern, and very much need to, but that doesn't mean to condemn. We are not worthy to judge others in the sense of condemning but leave that kind of judgment for the...

    Justification from everlasting !

Oh my goodness, I'm afraid you've got a bit of a bug in your brain there my friend. God didn't create man to be puppets, we're made in His image with free agency, and He doesn't force Himself on people. One thing that makes the Lord so very great, is that He allows both man and devil to...

Parade? One of pride as sinful as LGBT parade

I don't think it's wrong to honour and show gratitude to the military, they lay their lives on the line to protect the nation. The concern some of us had was that the President might make it all about him, his birthday, and as a way of showing off US military might, but that doesn't appear to...

Parade? One of pride as sinful as LGBT parade

Yes indeed, but in another way I think we older ones are kind of torn betwixt wanting to leave and wanting to stay, like Paul. :)

THE CHURCH IS NOT THE BRIDE OF CHRIST

They do need Christ, but sadly rejected Him. Therefore as Jesus said, Mat 21:42-43 Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes...

THE CHURCH IS NOT THE BRIDE OF CHRIST

It's just an allegory, not literal. And the church is only the bride collectively/corporately. Individually we are guests or bridesmaids at the wedding, in other allegories. The bridegroom came first to the nation of Israel to invite her be His bride, but she sadly refused His hand, except...

    Justification from everlasting !

Receiving/believing is a passive thing....all we need do is not resist the Spirit when He comes calling.

    Rightly Dividing Calvinism

Agreed. But don't forget Jesus did heal and make clean all those lepers which to continue the allegory refers to healing in the spiritual sense and cleansing from sin..

    Rightly Dividing Calvinism

Not true, Epi....there is power and also fruit.......just not perfected yet. I do agree we therefore need to reach for more than what we received initially. The modern church sets the bar too low and doesn't teach or exhort to go on to perfection.

    Rightly Dividing Calvinism

Yes and it has been fulfilled in us....because our new man has been created after the image of He who created it. And scripture then instructs, exhorts and admonishes us to therefore walk in what we have received........to manifest that new man and no longer obey the old. We began fulfilling...

    Rightly Dividing Calvinism

That's interesting because I think you are too severe in some of your doctrine. No offense intended, just saying.

    Justification from everlasting !

The work of God is to believe on He who He sent.

THE CHURCH IS NOT THE BRIDE OF CHRIST

The church (one man, both Jew and Gentile) is the Israel of God, of which Israel after the flesh was a type/shadow/figure. Similarly earthly Jerusalem (Zion) was only a type/shadow/figure for new Jerusalem, the city that is above which is our mother.

Parade? One of pride as sinful as LGBT parade

If this is just to honour the military in front of the nation, and give thanks to God for it, that is fine in my view. Just that if it is to show off and boast of one's military might in front of the world (David's error that someone pointed out), and/or to honour oneself, that would be another...

    Justification from everlasting !

Maybe we could consider this is true from heaven's point of view, according to God's foreknowledge, even while not yet true in fact in terms of earth's vantage point...? Each soul needs to personally receive Christ to be saved. And while each elect soul is foreknown by God, and this is why...

Parade? One of pride as sinful as LGBT parade

ok, that's what some people are claiming. I thought this was about his birthday. I guess we'll see how it all goes down when the parade happens.
