    (Refuting) The (Original Sin) Doctrine!!

Babies are not born sinners, but they are born sinful. Even very small children sin: as soon as they are physically and mentally capable of disobeying their parents, they disobey. And thus they break the fifth commandment. Absence of sinful actions is no indicator of purity, for God’s verdict...

    The wonder of Christmas

The Creator became a creature. The Eternal One entered space and time. Almighty God became a newborn baby.

Are Doctrines affected by Modern Versions

What these people never tell you (perhaps they don't actually read the whole of the modern version) is that the 'missing' bit is still there - in the verse before! "This is how you can recognise the Spirit of God: every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from...

    Interpreting Romans 6:23 In Context

What an invitation! I can't resist... 15 Paul’s question is: Can a Christian sin with impunity, because they are guaranteed forgiveness? Does grace undermine ethical responsibility? The answer is a resounding NO - because we are not free agents. 16 There is no such thing as complete human...

Does this quote contradict the Word?

But bear in mind that this quote is (presumably) from a mystic work, not a book of theology. It's a genre in which writers might well use a string of synonyms, as in poetry - for effect rather than for analysis. What language did she write in? I'm guessing it wasn't English, in which case the...

Does this quote contradict the Word?

I think you are misunderstanding her. The word "grace" can be an 'uncountable' noun (always singular) or a 'countable' noun (plural 'graces'). The meanings are different. "Graces" in the plural does not refer to the grace by which we are saved (always singular) but is another word for 'gift'.

Why do so many Christians vehemently disagree?

Because we don't put Romans 14 into practice: "Accept the one whose faith is weak, without quarrelling over disputable matters." (verse 1) "One person considers one day more sacred than another; another considers every day alike. Each of them should be fully convinced in their own mind." (verse...

Is water baptism necessary for salvation?

Is water baptism necessary for salvation? No... and Yes The problem with both these answers is that the question assumes that baptism is a tick-box activity. Has it been done... or not? And it isn't as simple as that. I could answer No - on the grounds that we are saved by God's grace...

Should Christians not participate in Halloween?

It depends which country you live in. Halloween in America is a different thing to Halloween in the UK. Living in the UK, where there was NO Halloween when I was a child (it started to come in during the 80s), I regard it as an American import with nothing to recommend it. Elderly people dread...

    We are what we eat

Yes, He did. So chicken is OK for us to eat anyway - but actually the Jews consider it OK as well. (The "cloven foot" rule only applies to mammals. Birds are all 'clean' except for a specified list of species - basically the birds of prey)

    We are what we eat

I don't see any point in continuing this conversation - if conversation is even the right word for it. You evidently have nothing new to say. Any intelligent person reading through this thread can draw their own conclusions without our help.

    Tongues and Related Issues

What on earth are you so upset about? Read my post more carefully - I agreed that is the modern English meaning of 'dialect'. You didn't quote any verse in your post, from any version. Perhaps not wise to assume that everyone uses the KJV. It's not that I can't or won't read it, I just don't...

    We are what we eat

As I have already pointed out, one of the possible translations of the word 'katharizo' is "declare clean". The word 'declare' in English is included in the Greek word - it hasn't been added, in the margin or anywhere. It is in the text. It is just your assumption that they weren't, and you...

    Tongues and Related Issues

Unfortunately this isn't quite as neat as you make out. The word "dialect" today, in English, means a variant of a language. But in Greek, 'dialektos' is less specific - it means "the language of a nation or region". In Acts 22, the Hebrew language is described as "the Hebrew dialektos"...

    We are what we eat

Well, there you are. The majority of translations agree that it's Jesus declaring all foods 'clean' and available to eat. The parentheses "aren't in the original" because the original had no punctuation at all. But you can't write intelligible English without punctuation, so it has to be put in...

How do you address opposing Scripture verses?

"There is a time for everything..." (Ecclesiastes 3) Following Jesus can't be reduced to simply obeying rules. We are given rules that appear to conflict (best example: Proverbs 26:4,5) because some situations demand that we act in one way and other situations that we do what is apparently the...

    We are what we eat

And I responded by demonstrating that your interpretation of those verses is grammatically impossible. So you haven't proved anything. Not a straw man argument at all. The context of Paul's statement "you are a temple of the Holy Spirit" makes clear he is referring to Christians, not to...

    We are what we eat

Except that it isn't. I'm starting to wonder if you and I are inhabiting the same planet and reading the same Bible. But he was writing a letter (I Corinthians) to Christians at the time. Your beliefs are so unorthodox... perhaps you should set them out in another thread. Then I might have a...

    Alive or dead

That may be what some annihilationist cults believe (perhaps when it goes together with belief in soul sleep), but it's not essential to the doctrine as held by orthodox Christians, which I've studied. I agree with the rest of your post.
