Can a person be a Christ-follower without falling in lock-step with the institutional church?

I wouldn't say that for ALL teachings. One of us has to be right and one of us has to be wrong. HOW to know?? We could have an opinion on some things... but some are so clear that I don't really understand why there's any doubt.

Can a person be a Christ-follower without falling in lock-step with the institutional church?

Doctrine. How could we possibly be saved by knowing the correct doctrine? What if we did what the NT teaches but we got some doctrine or other wrong? Jesus didn't tell us what we're supposed to believe... He taught us how we're supposed to live. Maybe you care to know which doctrine in...

Analogies never work and I hate using them. I couldn't think of another way to explain the word merit and how we MERIT salvation. I didn't say anything about the son not fulfilling the father's will,,,, because I NEVER mentioned the father's will. I only mentioned that the father was PLEASED...

Can a person be a Christ-follower without falling in lock-step with the institutional church?

IF we're saved by our doctrine.... not too many are getting into heaven.

Can a person be a Christ-follower without falling in lock-step with the institutional church?

I THINK a Binitarian believes Jesus to be God. Am I correct? If a person believes Jesus is God...then he's defined as Christian. This leaves the Holy Spirit.... Actually, I've always understood Binitarianism to be what John 1:1 states. But I don't feel I know enough about it to say anything...

Freed : From Calvinism and HyperCalvinism )Tulip<>5 Pont.

OK Ronald Nolette We tried again and you always end up with with personal insults. Maybe because you get frustrated in not being able to come up with good verses...I don't know why. But, let me repeat: I DO NOT HOLD TO ANY OF THE 5 POINTS, THE 7 POINTS OR ANY OTHER POINTS. You may wish to...

Freed : From Calvinism and HyperCalvinism )Tulip<>5 Pont.

You're stating that man cannot seek God. You keep posting verses that do NOT support your view. For instance,,,you post a verse that states that all men have sinned.... we all know this. BUT it does NOT state that man is not able to seek God. I, OTOH, have posted tens of verses that state that...

Can a person be a Christ-follower without falling in lock-step with the institutional church?

I skimmed through it. I'm interested from where THE NEW TESTAMENT begins. Of course there were sects that didn't believe Jesus was divine...this is the reason for the Nicene Creed.... to put to rest all the controversy. What I stated is that the divinity of Jesus is found in the NT AND that...

What was the condition that I stated that was necessary to merit something? Including salvation.

Can a person be a Christ-follower without falling in lock-step with the institutional church?

Baptism would seem simple....but I've never thought of it as a simple teaching. What IS baptism? In Acts 2:38 it seems to be the receiving of power to witness. They either spoke in different tongues (languages) or they heard in their own language. Also, it states that it's for the forgiveness...

Can a person be a Christ-follower without falling in lock-step with the institutional church?

I agree on doctrine. Although some doctrine could be really harmful to either the person or Christianity as a whole. Also, while doctrine won't save a person, I do believe that one incorrect doctrine in particular COULD cause some to forfeit their salvation. Baptism...as @RedFan pointed...

Can a person be a Christ-follower without falling in lock-step with the institutional church?

I think we're just kidding around. But seriously..... Baptism..... brings up this question: What if a person comes to believe but isn't baptized yet? But he believes all the proper doctrine... Can he be defined a Christian? What say you?

This is such a great testimony ProDeo. Europe is very atheistic and there are not many Christians left. People think they're more intelligent if they believe in science instead of religion/God.... as if the two were different....God made science possible by creating a universe with rules/laws to...

Well, I see @St. SteVen gave you a LIKE. Guess he agrees with you that he's better at titles than you are. But where's his humbleness His humility Should we add humility to the list of questions?? Can a person REALLY be a Christiian, and yet think he's better at creating titles? :jest:

Five reasons why you aren't a "true" Christian - Are you toast?

@Behold page 2 of 2 This goes to the difference between the Old and New Covenants. Let's see what you believe the difference to be.... Agreed. It's deeper than that,,,but OK. We should at least think as Jesus thought... or act as he acted. Interesting. But I can't think of this right now...

Five reasons why you aren't a "true" Christian - Are you toast?

Good afternoon Behold... I can't remember coming across this idea before....but I'll give my understanding of the NT. Right. Jesus didn't come to the Body....HE IS the body and it became "alive", I'd say, while He was still preaching and some believed Him. Maybe this could be debated to be put...

I don't know GP....you really want to discuss this? Someone MERITS a promotion. They worked. Maybe harder than others. But did anyone ask them to or are they just good workers? They MERITED the promotion. Did they EARN it? Yes....if it was known that if they worked hard they WOULD be...
