Is it a sin to use contraception?

But the "death" judgment is unprecedented. Normally, the refusal to provide an heir was frowned upon, but nobody died [Deuteronomy 25:5-10]. That is why I think that this case had something different going on. The only thing that jumps out at me is the obstruction to the lineage of Jesus.

Is it a sin to use contraception?

The real burden of proof is "Where in the Bible does it say that the child inside of the womb is not a person/baby...?" It doesn't say it in Luke 1:39-45, "[After Mary had conceived Jesus, she] arose in those days and went into the hill country with haste, to a city of Judah, and entered the...

Is it a sin to use contraception?

Questions about sex, generally. If the answer involved [privates], she would get grossed out. My other daughter would be like "Thanks for giving it to me straight."

Is it a sin to use contraception?

The ones that asked. One of my daughters would ask about that subject and, no matter how delicate I would try to be, she would be upset with my answer...! (She's married and has two kids, now.)

Is it a sin to use contraception?

The death judgment for such was peculiar to just this family. (With poor timing, it can even happen unintentionally.) My best guess is because they were willfully obstructing the lineage of Jesus.

Is it a sin to use contraception?

I always answered direct questions about contraception, etc., but I never offered any information to the effect of "If you want to get away with fornication, here is what you do..." I think the fear of possible bad consequences is a good thing.

Is it a sin to use contraception?

No, it is a possible side effect. Those who use it outside of such treatment need to factor that into their decision. I am not laying down a law. I am reporting a typical Pro-Life response, given the additional information. Quiverfull FYI, QF women will even use such treatments if they are...

Is it a sin to use contraception?

HBC normally suspends ovulation by simulating pregnancy. If ovulation (and subsequent fertilization) takes place, anyway, the uterus is hostile to implantation (just like an IUD). Most people only know about #1. Pro-Lifers who know about #2 will not use it on that basis. (I have only stated...

Is it a sin to use contraception?

An IUD miscarriage is not unknown, it is intended. Condoms do not cause miscarriages. IUDs intentionally do. Hormonal BC can.

Is it a sin to use contraception?

Mousetrap Fission Among Pro-Lifers, miscarriage is not considered abortion, but deliberate miscarriage is.

Is it a sin to use contraception?

As a QF Christian, I personally see general contraception like smoking. The Bible doesn't speak directly to either, but the Holy Spirit has the right to convict us to stop, if He wants to. Quiverfull

Is it a sin to use contraception?

@Stan B : yes, the Bible is silent on contraception, but we who are convicted of Quiverfull operate under 1 Corinthians 10:23, "All things are lawful for me, but not all things are helpful; all things are lawful for me, but not all things edify."

Is it a sin to use contraception?

QuiverFull. Both abstain from such, but from the Catholic men that I have talked to, conception is the goal of every sex act whether it is successful or not. Quiverfull couples just seek to enjoy each other and as they avail their sex life to God, He will pick the number of children and when...

Poll: Does the mainstreaming of tattoos open up increasing opportunities for faith ink witness?

@farouk , past the question of content, I really think that tattoos are a side issue (with cultural reinforcement in some places). They have all the pros & cons of any other art medium, except for their permanence.

Is it a sin to use contraception?

As I understand it, they are different. The Catholic view tends to solemnize every sex act as if it will bring about conception. Quiverfull The QF view just enjoys sexual relations for what they are. We welcome conception (as God sees fit), but do not specifically seek it out.

Is it a sin to use contraception?

An IUD is willful. Your example is not.

Is it a sin to use contraception?

I know that fertilization isn't guaranteed, but I have never heard that failure to implant was naturally common. IUDs abort zygotes by design. Their failure to implant without such deliberate interference is not a willful act.
