Before you correct someone for erring in their faith, make sure you understand what they are actually saying.

    confession and repentance

Ah... I see the confusion. There are actually two concepts being expressed in this thread. The first concept is confession as man's way of relieving his own guilt at having sinned against God. The second concept is God forgiving man as a result of confession. The two are similar only in the...

    confession and repentance

What is the purpose of confession? Since God already knows our innermost thoughts, confession cannot serve to benefit God. Therefore, confession must serve to benefit us. In that case, what benefit does confession endow us? In other words, why confess?

    confession and repentance

At peace with God vs. at peace with ourselves? That makes sense. Strange, I never considered humanity to be "at war" with God. He wants desperately to redeem us after all, and it's only our own pride that blocks us from his grace.

    confession and repentance

Could you explain this further? How does being born again keep one always at peace? Born again or not, we are still human. We are still tempted and we still fall short. I can't see us ever being always at peace while we still live in the flesh.

    "God told me..."

Your point is valid. We must define virtues such as love and compassion before we can properly discuss them.

    Who are you?

Sin is a form of separation. If we are truly unified (one) with God then there will be no sin, but as long as we maintain our own self, independent of God, we will have separation and thus sin. It is a mystery, but only to us. God understands fully, hence our continuous need for repentance and...

    "God told me..."

I believe you. In my prayers I have also heard the voice of God but as others have mentioned, the Devil is equally capable of planting his thoughts so it's necessary to practice diligent discernment. When I hear a word or phrase that I suspect to not be my own, I measure it against Jesus'...

I very much appreciate what you wrote above. :)

Scrapbooking, Art Journaling, and paper crafts

That is so cool. I keep a bullet journal for my work. People think I have a really good memory. Nope, I just write everything down. ;-D

Which would you save, a sinner or a saint?

There is no correct answer here. If you choose one or the other based upon your perception of their righteousness then you are making the same conceit as Lucifer. Judgement belongs to God.

Which would you save, a sinner or a saint?

You save the person who has the greatest chance of surviving.

    Head Learning Vs. Heart Knowing

@Behold Please see my description of love (#16 in this thread) as it relates to pathways that lead to God vs confusion or damnation. Head Learning Vs. Heart Knowing

    Head Learning Vs. Heart Knowing

The underlying message is love. God is love, absolute, unconditional love. All we, as created beings, need do is turn to God with humility and contrition and God will shower us with more love than we can imagine. Receiving love from our creator, we are to love each other and ourselves. By love...

    Aslan and Christ

I have only read C.S. Lewis' non-fiction works. "The Problem of Pain" and "Mere Christianity" are must reads, in my opinion.

    In the image of God

God is the ultimate creator. To be made in the image of God is to also be a creator, capable of imagining that which does not yet exist and bringing it to fruition.

    Any programmers here?

I have done a bit of programming here and there. If you have questions, fire away!

    Head Learning Vs. Heart Knowing

Most people, Christians included, focus more on form than function. For example, we argue over faith denominations or Biblical verses at the expense of the underlying message. I view religion in general and Christianity in particular as a pointer to God. Once you turn toward the divine creator...

    Head Learning Vs. Heart Knowing

The book of Joshua comes to mind. When God gave Israel the promised land he did not simply smite the Canaanites and give Israel a vacant land. Rather, he empowered Israel to take the land themselves. I see this as an example of how God will operate in end times, with humanity working to realize...

    Head Learning Vs. Heart Knowing

It's not so much that I dismissed my first belief, e.g. that God would impose his will upon the Earth. Rather, it's a clarification of what that means. God definitely will subject the Earth to his will but he won't do it in a manner that fails to take human action into account. That is to say...
