1 John 3:9 - Is it cannot "practice" sin, or cannot "commit" sin?

To all: Perpetual Belief Alone Salvationism (the second largest branch of Christianity today) teaches that a believer does not practice sin or otherwise one should question whether they are saved or not, but yet they double speak and also teach that a backslidden Christian is saved. Is a...

1 John 3:9 - Is it cannot "practice" sin, or cannot "commit" sin?

Proverbs 30:20 says: “Such is the way of an adulterous woman; she eateth, and wipeth her mouth, and saith, I have done no wickedness.” Isaiah 5:20 says: “Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and...

1 John 3:9 - Is it cannot "practice" sin, or cannot "commit" sin?

Ever notice how you don’t back up what you said in reply with Scripture when your belief is challenged? You stated opinions dear sir and not Scripture. There is a big difference between the two. In either case, may the LORD bless you even if we disagree.

1 John 3:9 - Is it cannot "practice" sin, or cannot "commit" sin?

No. The Jews were not outwardly righteous. If they were outwardly righteous, then they would not do things that Jesus rebuked them for. The Jews ignored the weightier matters of the Law and they were called as hypocrites by Jesus. So no. Their behavior was not impeccable in the eyes of God...

1 John 3:9 - Is it cannot "practice" sin, or cannot "commit" sin?

“15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. 16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? 17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil...

1 John 3:9 - Is it cannot "practice" sin, or cannot "commit" sin?

Claims are only true if you can back them up with Scripture (of which you did not provide). First, anyone who does not believe God’s words is an unbeliever (Including the Jews) (See: Hebrews 3:19). Just a belief in GOD, or believing part of His Word from one’s own slanted point of view does...

Poll: Tattoo artist: if a Christian daughter/son of yours worked as one, would you be supportive?

Bible believing Christians (Who are not seeking to change God’s Word to fit OSAS) don't believe in OSAS because Scripture teaches against it on practically every page in the New Testament. There are many ways to demolish OSAS (Once Saved Always saved), Eternal Security, and or Perseverance of...

Poll: Tattoo artist: if a Christian daughter/son of yours worked as one, would you be supportive?

I used to love watching Marvel comics films and television programs (along with other popular sinful secular shows and films). But God talked to my heart about it more and more as things kept getting darker and more sinful in these movies and TV shows. Fornication and bad language is just the...

Poll: Tattoo artist: if a Christian daughter/son of yours worked as one, would you be supportive?

I think it depends. If they were warned against tattoos by God’s people (according to His Word), and they ignored the warnings, then… I believe they would be condemned. If they did this sin in ignorance that is another matter and I believe it would be up to God to judge them in such a case (if...

Poll: Tattoo artist: if a Christian daughter/son of yours worked as one, would you be supportive?

Notice when this person prays, the cross is upside down. Upside down crosses can found in Catholicism, and Satanic groups. Granted, a person could have had tattoos from their old life, but if they sought forgiveness with the Lord, it can be forgiven. God looks at the heart and their motives...

Poll: Tattoo artist: if a Christian daughter/son of yours worked as one, would you be supportive?

There are false heretical groups that also use Scripture. That does not mean they are leading people to the real Jesus of the Bible. Paul talks about how there are those who preach another Jesus (2 Corinthians 11:4). A Jesus that makes an allowance for a person’s particular sin is another Jesus.

Poll: Tattoo artist: if a Christian daughter/son of yours worked as one, would you be supportive?

A person can seek forgiveness with the Lord Jesus Christ over their sin of tattooing if they slipped up in doing so. Just as any other sin can be repented of. Believers have to end up in a righteous state when they die or at the point in time when Jesus comes to take His bride. If not, they...

Poll: Tattoo artist: if a Christian daughter/son of yours worked as one, would you be supportive?

@farouk Do you think it is normal to have a white European version of Jesus as a tattoo on person? But Jesus is not a white European. Nobody knows what He looks like and to create an image of Him means one is creating an idol image. If you tattoo with Bible verses, your witness is already...

Poll: Tattoo artist: if a Christian daughter/son of yours worked as one, would you be supportive?

Your missing the point. Bestiality is not condemned in the NT, and yet we know it is condemned even without having any NT verse. Let me give you another example of your wrong thinking here: A Christian can steal from the rich and give it to the poor with Bible verses, but their efforts are in...

1 John 3:9 - Is it cannot "practice" sin, or cannot "commit" sin?

That does not make any sense. For example: If you tell an unbeliever that they need to forgive everyone, it would not matter if they actually did do that if they did not accept Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. They can forgive everyone in the whole world and be on their way to...

1 John 3:9 - Is it cannot "practice" sin, or cannot "commit" sin?

Reread the whole Sermon on the Mount again (Matthew 5-7). The whole discourse if focused on our actions in what we must do and Jesus warning against how certain sins can destroy our souls. Nowhere does Jesus talk about any imaginary Protestant sin and still be saved type belief here. This is...

1 John 3:9 - Is it cannot "practice" sin, or cannot "commit" sin?

God looks at the heart. Of course no person can fake it. But you need to live righteously or you will not make it into God’s Kingdom. 1 John 3:10 In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth...

1 John 3:9 - Is it cannot "practice" sin, or cannot "commit" sin?

No. Jesus was actually referring to the Pharisees actions and not His imputed righteousness. In Matthew 23:23 and Luke 11:42, Jesus basically says that the Pharisees ignored the weightier matters of the Law like love, faith, justice, and mercy. Sorry. You need to read the Bible more...

1 John 3:9 - Is it cannot "practice" sin, or cannot "commit" sin?

@1stCenturyLady To answer your OP: It’s “cannot commit sin.” But the sin and still be saved crowd still finds a way to distort even “cannot commit sin” to their own dark ends. Some in in the sin and still be saved camp believe that “cannot commit sin” means that when they sin physically God...

1 John 3:9 - Is it cannot "practice" sin, or cannot "commit" sin?

Jesus warned about how certain sins can destroy our souls in the afterlife in Matthew 5:22, Matthew 5:28-30, Matthew 6:15, Matthew 12:37, Matthew 25:31-46, Luke 9:62. Most Christians today do not even believe these warnings. They think they can sin and still be saved on some level but they...
