I like what you wrote here, Behold. And while I agree with most of it, I think that Buddha doesn't teach us to not want anything, but rather to not be so 'attached' to our wants, so that our wants get out of control (a.k.a. lust). I've seen/read many a story about some who are so miserable...

Good post, John. I've been thinking about this thread since it was first posted. In a nutshell, it seems that the OP went to a Baptist church, said the "sinner's prayer" with a pastor, and the pastor then told him, that he was 'saved', and to not listen to anyone else who would say...

And where is THAT in scripture? NOWHERE. Judgement is ONLY left to GOD. How about common sense...FROM the Holy Spirit? By the same token, lest we be so FULL of ourselves to believe that WE have ALL the answers...

While I can appreciate what you're saying, I don't agree... Vengeance is MINE, sayeth the Lord. It's not up to US to condemn, but to "love our enemies." It's not up to us to judge, but to leave judgment up to GOD. We are to "love others as ourselves."

No, it is not. It depends on the intention. You seem to believe that ALL 'works' are to get God's 'approval'. Yet, God sees our hearts. God knows whether we're performing 'works' in order to please Him, and to think that our works will 'guarantee' us a ticket to Heaven. You want the 'key'...

Apparently, you don't get what Jesus said. First 'rule of order' that Jesus preached was, "REPENT." He also says, (in so many words) that we have to keep HIS Commandments, and do the Will of his Father. You can't look at a bible verse or two and ignore the rest.
