I am unable to make your connection that it is "an animal sacrifice in the cup of communion". That makes no sense. I can't comprehend what you are speaking of. I know the Jews made animal Sacrifices for God. Are you equating THAT to what Jesus said? mary

I still dont see the connection with animal sacrifices and burnt offerings. I am a simple person with a simple mind. Can you help me connect the dots you are trying to make? Respectfully, Mary

You and @Eternally Grateful are truly 2 peas in a pod. You "like" what the other says but can't and haven't' answered Paul's question: The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ...

Scripture does not say that it is " par-taking in dying to self" or that "drinking the blood of Christ" is par-taking in the risen life of Jesus Christ. That is not in Scripture and is something you added.

It's not grape juice, its wine as made clear by Scripture. Stop adding to Scripture what is not there. There is no animal Sacrifice and I don't understand your theory on that. You and every other PROTESTant on this forum that I have dealt with has not answered Paul's question: The cup of...

Thank you for making my point. :gd What you quoted doesn't say that if we "feed on his words" we will have eternal life. What you quoted isn't even close to your theory. The word out of His mouth is that if we eat His body and drink His blood we will have eternal life. Thats it. Stop press...

Got it. By Eating his body and drinking his blood we eat from the tree of life. I for one am glad that he SHOWED us how to eat his body and drink his blood at the Last Supper: bread and wine. Mary

Hey APAK, Paul didn't take it as a metaphor: The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ? What is your answer to Paul's question APAK? If you read the writings of Ignatius, a...

Hey EG, Yup, He said the flesh profits nothing. And right before that He told us that eating his flesh does profit something, eternal life. Are we to understand that Christ had just commanded his disciples to eat his flesh, and then say doing so would be pointless? Your theory....or what your...

Hey EG, Sooo good to hear from you again. Yes, He did say that. What do you think He meant when he said that? I already have my thoughts on it but I am curious about yours. Curious Mary EDIT: I just noticed post #26 so I will respond via it

Hey RedFan. It is very easy IF you believe what He said: You must eat my body to have life in you. This (communion wafer as you call it) IS my body! It appears YOU don't believe Him, so it isn't easy YOU.

Well @Jude Thaddeus, you asked a very simple question of Steward: back up what you believe using Scripture. I for one was looking forward to a legitimate answer so that maybe I could learn something I didn't know. Looks like you and me are not going to get one hmn Steward: Your 'answer' leaves...

You believe it is a wafer and grape juice. We believe what He said: This IS my body and blood. Why don't you believe Him? Why don't you believe Paul? BTW....Christians don't drink grape juice for communion. We drink wine. There are some Protestant denominations that use grape juice which is...

Yup, Jesus "taught using parables". What did Jesus do AFTER he taught using a parable? He took the Apostles to the side and explained it to them (Mark 4:33-34). Did He take the Apostles to the side and explain his bread of life discourse (you must eat my body and drink my blood) to His Apostles...

Thanks for joining the conversation VIJ. However, I don't have a clue how what you wrote has anything to do with the topic at hand. Would you care to try again and be clearer this time? Mary

Let me address your theory and then we can get back to your main point. Jesus said this IS my body/blood. He didn't say it symbolizes my body and blood. You may feel comfortable adding words to Scripture; I don't. Then, about 30 years later, Paul asked the aforementioned rhetorical question...

Thank you. So you believe that Christ came to YOU and taught YOU that it is “the words of God” we must consume like spiritual food for our soul and that His blood represents His Testimony. Paul was also taught by Christ. As @VictoryinJesus stated in their post For I have received of the Lord...

Hello, Who taught you or what denomination teaches that it is “the words of God” we must consume like spiritual food for our soul and that the blood of Jesus represents His Testimony? Your men teach opposite of what Paul teaches on this matter: Is not the cup of thanksgiving for which we...
