    The false gospel of grace

I didn't say I didn't understand it--I was raised on the KJV. I said most of the under 30s find it difficult and you will never convince them that the KJV is "superior" (it really isn't). It is the Holy Spirit who leads into all truth--not any specific translation. I looked up the...

    The false gospel of grace

Theosis is much more than that--it suggests that in merging with God, we become a "little god". I believe there is now a prosperity gospel preacher who preaches that (is it Creflo Dollar?--yes, that is his real name:rolleyes:).

    The false gospel of grace

No--that is a concept that invaded Christianity through the Cappadocian Fathers and there are good reasons why it has always been considered a false teaching in Western Christianity. It was never embraced by either the RCC or the later Reformers. The Apostle Paul was not a false teacher.

    The false gospel of grace

God is God--and we are not. Theosis is very much linked to Christian perfectionism and, in my opinion (and that of many, many others) is deception. The New Agers teach that we will become gods and goddesses. Striking the Balance

    The false gospel of grace

It's a love thing. Too often in the past, legalism has turned many away from a life in Christ. My pastor brother-in-law describes legalistic Christians as, "looking like they were baptized in pickle juice!" Concentrating on the negative (not sinning) makes one into a negative person...

    The false gospel of grace

It is unlikely that the reason why people have switched to more modern translations is "because they don't like something that the Lord spoke to them out of the KJV". Much more likely that they don't understand the antiquated language of the KJV--it doesn't say much at all to them. The dense...

    The false gospel of grace

No, we hope to come closer every day--until the day when perfection is obtained in heaven. To please the Lord Jesus, whom they love. I would hope not! I would expect that Timothy taught the true gospel and not a false gospel. In any case, Paul says that those people have "rejected the...

    The false gospel of grace

Are you saying that the translators were infallible? The Apostle Paul obviously meant that it is inspired in the original languages. Does that mean that, when I read the KJV (and I do sometimes--I actually prefer to memorize Scripture in the KJV) I am in the Body of Christ and then when I...

    The false gospel of grace

"Perfecting" as in ongoing process. Congratulations. You have managed to puff yourself up in rude condescension and insulted a child of God in the process. The "itching ears" phrase is for unbelievers. You have thoroughly misapplied it and been quite nasty to boot. Do you think that...

    The false gospel of grace

If it were true that these people you cite are perfect in their walk, what need do they have for a Savior? To the contrary, the Scriptures teach that we will ALWAYS need Him. Those at the Jerusalem council apparently agreed with Peter that those who were insisting that the Gentiles follow...

    The false gospel of grace

"Proof texts" do not make for proof. Only God and His holy angels are perfect in their holiness. The Scriptures very nearly shout that at us. Yes, Jesus calls us higher--always--but He understands if and when we fail--and He forgives. That alone should make us "poor in spirit" (i.e. humble)...

    The false gospel of grace

You are reading a great deal into the Scripture. The text TELLS us that Peter had been living as a Gentile (Galatians chapter 2, verse 12a), before the Jewish Christians arrived--that he was afraid of being criticized by them after they arrived (12b and 12c). Peter's spiritual weakness was...

    The false gospel of grace

You may THINK that they are perfect in their walk but are they? You are teaching heresy.

What to do when you are beyond repentance?

Have you asked yourself how you could "hate" the only remedy for sin? That is like hating the medicine you must take to deal with a disease. Wouldn't it be better to hate the disease?

What to do when you are beyond repentance?

The fact that you are troubled by your current condition says that you are NOT like Esau who treated his godly inheritance with contempt--without a thought about it. You need the strengthening that comes from other believers gathering around you and praying for you to hand this part of you to...

    The false gospel of grace

Entire sanctification IN THIS LIFE, is a myth. We will not be entirely sanctified until we go to be in heaven with the Lord or He comes here to fetch us in the Rapture. You are confusing justification with sanctification. Those who are truly in Christ are completely justified--"There is now...

    The false gospel of grace

That verse says nothing about becoming sinless. Was the Apostle Peter in Christ? I think you would say yes. Yet, the Apostle Paul accuses Peter of hypocrisy (a sin) in Galatians 2:11-14.

    The false gospel of grace

John MacArthur is one of the best Bible teachers around. All right you guys--it's late. I'm going to bed. Catch up with you tomorrow. ;)

Um--I think you should read what is at the bottom of your tag.

    The false gospel of grace

Well, Job was certainly "blameless" in the OT sense of what that meant. However, God royally chewed him out over his lack of humility. That's what happens to those who "think they stand". (1 Corinthians 10:12)
