    Who nailed Him ?

The Apostle Peter might disagree with you... “He himself [Christ] bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness;" (1 Peter 2:24)

    The good Samaritan ?

There was that so hard to do? But next time, answer it without the sanctimonious prelude... what would CT Russell think of you?

    The good Samaritan ?

Ok, attempt #2. I'll reiterate Arn's question... whom do you believe yourself to be represented in the parable?

    Mark 16:9

This is a lengthy treatment but I think it goes to answer many of the questions about the Sabbath-Change controversy, it's history, origins, and results. http://www.sabbathfellowship.org/biblestudies/erwingane/biblestudy_gane_sabbathchng.htm

    The good Samaritan ?

winc, you started this thread, either participate by answering (not dismissing) questions validly asked of you by other members or this thread will be left for dead on the road to Jericho as well.

    Who nailed Him ?

I agreed with you, Arn, until your last sentence. The rule of law presses the button, not the people. The rule of law is there specifically to keep the human element as far away as possible from these types of decisions, lest we have not the rule of law but a true democracy, which is, mob rule.

    Spiritual Gifts

It can be confirmed they said what was claimed. However, what they said is not confirmed by either scripture or practice. My gift, as how you restated it, is accurate. Spiritual Gifts aren't all hokus-pokus and raz-ma-taz with a little of badabing-bang-BOOM thrown in. Sometimes they take work...

    Excuses!

By itself, yes, it is a valid excuse. However, if Sally (a person with a broken down car) is habitually late, the validity of that excuse can be questioned. If Tad, who is usually early into the office has the same situation happen (broken car) then the veracity of his excuse is not questioned...

Is partial obedience better than nothing?

In what way is that quote germane? Partial Obediance does not necessarily imply luke-warm.

Is partial obedience better than nothing?

Not quite accurate. "I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compasion on whom I will have compasion" says The Lord. Your statement necessarily implies we must DO sometime (have mercy) in order to RECEIVE mercy. Mercy (the unmerited abrogation of punishment by the Lord), by...

Is partial obedience better than nothing?

Partial Obedience is not a "doctrine", nor can it ever be. What the OP is really asking is, as I boil it down, "Is it acceptable to come up short in our walk with Christ?" The answer is, of course, "acceptable to whom?" Acceptable to God? Then, No, it is not acceptable. That is why Christ was...

Is partial obedience better than nothing?

A cup of cold water was a prize in the desert... you should not relegate it to "better than nothing" status, that reeks of anachronism. It was better than most gifts in the middle East.

Is partial obedience better than nothing?

Even our total obedience is only partial without Christ as the object of that obedience. It is even more partial without the Holy Spirit as the driving force behind that spirit of obedience. Nevertheless, I am not sure if partial is better than nothing. I have heard it said that as long as we...
