Why Was Cain’s Sacrifice Rejected by God?

No offense intended but, interpreting the Bible is easy compared to interpreting what you write. What is scary is that I'm starting to understand what you write. ;)

Why Was Cain’s Sacrifice Rejected by God?

But Jesus was the Son of God, bbyrd. Yes, He called Himself "Son of Man" but then, that was a title for a prophet. However, His most important role for us was as the Son of God/Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. Without that, we all would be fire fodder.

Why Was Cain’s Sacrifice Rejected by God?

Good point. It needed to be a blood sacrifice if it was meant as a covering for sin but there were other kinds of sacrifices. Interesting that Abel thought to make a sin offering and Cain apparently did not see the need. I wonder if Cain and Abel had quarreled and Abel thought to confess his...

Why Was Cain’s Sacrifice Rejected by God?

It is difficult to make any definitive judgment on that, since "spirit" and "soul" were used interchangeably in the broader Helenistic culture. However, in the Hebraic mindset, the soul and spirit were separate parts of an individual.

Why Was Cain’s Sacrifice Rejected by God?

That's not what the Hebrew says--it says, "Dying, you will die..." The process of death started from the moment of that decree. Interestingly, Isaiah insists that in the Millennial Kingdom, long life will return and the "lion will lie down with the lamb" and neither will there be any killing...

Why Was Cain’s Sacrifice Rejected by God?

No, what I meant was that, from the moment God pronounced His curse on the earth, the animals started to die-off.

Why Was Cain’s Sacrifice Rejected by God?

My guess is that the animals had already started dying--possibly even massive die-offs. God could simply have taken the skins of already dead animals to clothe Adam and Eve.

Why Was Cain’s Sacrifice Rejected by God?

I think the born-again experience rebirths our dead spirits.

Why Was Cain’s Sacrifice Rejected by God?

Yes--I think that Cain committed the same kind of sin that Esau did later. They were cavalier toward their heritage and privilege. Ingratitude is a sin. When the Israelites were ungrateful toward God, after He rescued them from slavery and death (the first Passover), and began complaining to...

    Should I be rebaptised?

No, it just means that I am tired of getting yelled at and insulted in large type and color. It is obnoxious. I'm well aware of what the Ichthys IS--I just don't think the Bishop's miter looks like it. It looks much more like the head covering of the pagan priests of Dagon. OF COURSE the...

Why Was Cain’s Sacrifice Rejected by God?

That's where it gets just a tiny bit complicated. In the Mediterranean culture of that day, the "heart" was thought to be a combination of the seat of understanding as well as the seat of emotion--potentially informed by reason. At the same time, the "soul" was thought to be the sum total of...

Why Was Cain’s Sacrifice Rejected by God?

Even those bound for hell have a heart. Most who study these things say that the "soul" and "heart" are roughly equivalent.
  13. L

Why Was Cain’s Sacrifice Rejected by God?

No, actually it doesn't. A heart can be "darkened" but the spirit is never spoken of that way. It is the spirit which is born again from above. Before conversion, a person still has a heart (although a "foolish" one--"The fool says, in his heart, 'there is no God'."). Most believe that the...

Why Was Cain’s Sacrifice Rejected by God?

The Holy Spirit was ON, AROUND and LEADING those in the OT who were interested in following God. The prophets were moved by Him to speak the oracles of Yahweh. But, no one, other than Christ was permanently indwelt before His Resurrection and the Pentecost event that followed. You can see...

Why Was Cain’s Sacrifice Rejected by God?

No. A "circumcised heart" was one that was open to God's teaching by His Holy Spirit and were convicted by Him of their sins, but they were NOT indwelt by the Holy Spirit. Jesus told us when that would happen.

    Should I be rebaptised?

    Yes--very creepy.

    Should I be rebaptised?

Nice try--I'm not buying it. The bishop's miter does not look like that. As for not knowing my Bible very well--I'd say that I know it better than you do. (Of course, that's not very difficult, it seems.) Must you use color, enlarged type and bolding? It is obnoxious (but then, I guess we...

Why Was Cain’s Sacrifice Rejected by God?

Since you don't believe in free will, what you are saying is that it was God's fault that Cain offered an unacceptable sacrifice, for failing to send the Holy Spirit to Cain? But, would God then tell Cain that if he did what was right, he would be accepted, warning Cain that, "sin is crouching...

    Should I be rebaptised?

My Bible says "that your hearts will be flooded with light" and the previous line makes it clear that it is God who gives spiritual wisdom through His Spirit. The "Enlightenment" was anything but a Christian movement and it is probably unwise to use that particular word to indicate the granting...
