    What is truth?

I don't see how it's an oversimplification. If one is not saved through Christ, eternal damnation will surely follow. It's not pretty, but it's either true or it's not. It couldn't be more simple. We need to call a spade a spade here.

Freewill and Choice have NOTHING to dowith Salvation

Sorry Butch. I see nothing in your reply that makes "dead" an appropriate metaphor for wounded and partially alive. Dead is a complete cessation of life and therefore ability. The verses I presented have everything to do with complete spiritual inability that is the result of being dead in...

    What is truth?

Yes. Joh 14:6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. Act 4:12 And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved."

Freewill and Choice have NOTHING to dowith Salvation

Yes, "dead in trespasses and sins" is certainly a metaphor. It describes perfectly how mankind was rendered spiritually incapacitated by the fall of Adam. Scripture does in fact make reference to this state of being. For example: 1Co 2:14 The natural person does not accept the things of the...

    Christianity Board Software Switch

It's a nice board. So far so good. One question though. I don't see anything at the top of the home page that would alert you to unread private messages. What happens when you get a new pm? Pop-up window maybe?

What are you reading? What are you learning?

I just finished reading Defence of the Faith by the late Cornelius Van Til who was a professor at Westminster Seminary here in Philadelphia. It's about Reformed apologetics.

Bishop Bans Rep. Kennedy from Communion

Hello again Miss Hepburn, If there are Protestants who believe that private self-administration is legitimate I would beg to differ. The Lord's Supper is to be eaten in the fellowship of other believers as instituted by Jesus. First century believers shared communion along with a fellowship...

Bishop Bans Rep. Kennedy from Communion

Hello Miss Hepburn, I'm afraid there are those who have that right. They're called "elders" or "presbyters." Their qualifications are found in 1 Tim. 3. Their task is to discipline those who are living in willful open sin. The highest form of discipline they can mete out is excommunication...

    Jesus In Heaven With God

The first thing we need to keep in mind when answering this question is that Jesus has two natures. The Son in his deity is eternal. He has no beginning or end. For example: Joh 8:58 Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I am." Joh 17:5 And now, O Father...

    Miracles of Christ

Joh 14:12 "Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father.

Anything wrong with non-denominational, but still Christian?

Hello Miss Hepburn"][list]Luk 22:19 And he took bread' date=' and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to them, saying, "This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me." 1Co 11:23 For I received from the Lord what I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus...

Anything wrong with non-denominational, but still Christian?

Heb 10:24 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, Heb 10:25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near. If you neglect meeting together, how will you partake of the...

Anything wrong with non-denominational, but still Christian?

Hello Fay,I would say the reason for this is that many, right or wrong, believe their denomination best represents Biblical teaching. Of course there are others who unwittingly place emphasis on their denominational affiliation out of tradition.

Anything wrong with non-denominational, but still Christian?

Hello Miss Hepburn' date=' :)Without getting into the etymological history of our English word "church," suffice it to say that it was and is used by English translators of the NT to translate the Greek word "ekklesia," meaning "assembly" or "called out." Ekklesia does in fact refer to the...

How does one blasphemy the Holy Spirit?

Hello Miss Hepburn,To blaspheme the Holy Spirit in the context of Matthew 12 is to attribute the signs wrought by Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit to Satan. Here is an entry by the Puritan Matthew Poole on this matter. As for taking the name of the Lord in vain, there are at least three...
