    Biblical Errors?

So, then, what you are saying is that, in your opinion, the translations which do not include homosexuality are in error? My point was not that either view is correct, but, rather, that for one to be correct, those which oppose it must be incorrect.

    Questions For A Catholic

Should we not be reminded of death, and the reasons for it? If we did not know of death, is there not a danger of these lessons being forgotten?

    Questions For A Catholic

What is grotesque or horrifying about the bones the Lord made to hold up our bodies? Also, do you have a question to post?

    Biblical Errors?

Well, the whole point is that several translations don't even necessarily include homosexual behavior as sexual immorality. "Child abuser" has no relation to homo- or heterosexuality, and "pervert" doesn't necessarily imply homosexuality. A few translations mention nothing about homosexuality...

    Disrespect

It does kind of seem like making a mountain out of a molehill. I mean, sometimes the shift key just doesn't work or what-have-you. I think God cares a lot more for goodness than grammar, and about sin than syntax. If I don't think any disrespect was intended, I don't really take it as...

    God's Omniscience

God is divine, which means He is no more susceptible to time, being timeless, than He is to any other "law" of physics. In other words, the way I conceive of it is that God doesn't know what's going to happen, He knows what, for him, has already happened. He is in all moments at once, past...

    Silence Of Women

As I've said in other threads, taking into account the context of verses, especially for whom they were being written, is always important. Corinthians is a great example of this; Paul is advising the people of Corinth, based on their lifestyles, how best to alter those lifestyles to follow the...

    Biblical Errors?

Well, the problem is that there isn't necessarily one "right" translation which does not distort the meaning of the word. Its meaning in the Greek lexicon is largely ambiguous, as well, since it was not an existing Greek word, I recall that its later uses carried a wide variety of meanings, and...

    What Is Communist Socialism?

Sure, it has happened, but has the majority done it? I didn't ever say it never happened. Looking at specific crimes, however: http://www.nationmaster.com/graph/cri_mur_percap-crime-murders-per-capita http://www.nationmaster.com/graph/cri_rap_percap-crime-rapes-per-capita...

    Questions For A Catholic

You're not asking questions, you're just attacking their faith. There is a difference between asking "Why do you believe what you believe about X" and "How were you tricked into buying in to the heretical cult of Satan of which you are an ignorant and/or evil member." While the latter is an...

    Combining Patriotism With Christianity

I suppose refusing to answer is an answer of a kind, but you nonetheless suppressed the information related to torture, earlier. I'm not saying that you have to tell me, or anything, and I don't mean this to pressure you; I'm saying that I wouldn't accuse others of suppressing information when...

    Biblical Errors?

Actually, you did not ask for specifics; if you had, I would gladly have given them. Instead, you told me you "usually jump all over" people for making that statement (which "lies there like a dead dog") and told me you wondered about my Spiritual Condition. So I really don't see how I was rude...

    What Is Communist Socialism?

Well, I mean, the history of a lot of things is pretty bleak, but it doesn't mean that the idea is necessarily a completely bankrupt one. Capitalist countries have histories of tyranny and economic failure, as well; I think it comes down less to the type of leadership than the people involved in...

    Questions For A Catholic

Yeah, I mean, I saw the text, I just mean that I don't see what it has to do with much of anything, even if they do kiss the feet. Is it for any reason other than simply to show "shocking" images (which are really far from shocking; people die and bodies change over time, there is nothing...

    Questions For A Catholic

I don't see what pictures of feet have to do with anything. Can you clarify their importance, again, Anastacia?

    What Is Communist Socialism?

Well, that wasn't "Yes" or "no," but at this point, I feel as thought some aphasia prevents you from typing either word, and will drop the point at risk of wasting my time further than this discourse already seems to be. Giving to the poor has a lot to do with my idea of socialism (and the idea...

    Questions For A Catholic

I went to a Coptic Orthodox liturgy, which I think is very similar to an Orthodox liturgy. I'd like to see the Greek Orthodox or Russian Orthodox church more in action, since I speak Greek and Russian a lot better than I do Egyptian, although I knew enough to at least follow the service.

    Questions For A Catholic

Well, in that case, this thread isn't the correct place for it. It was established on the first page that this is for asking questions to clarify their personal views on Catholicism. If you already know, there is no need to ask. One should not mock others' spelling when one ends one's...

    Questions For A Catholic

I think there might be some ground in-between "John and Luke are liars," and a "fatally biased and flawed" translation.

    Biblical Errors?

Then how do you account for translations which offer clearly different meanings for the same word? God is perfect, we are not, and moreover, our languages are not perfectly identical. There are concepts and words in Greek for which no exact English translation can be given.
