Strange Fire - A Pentecostal Response

There is a difference between promoting something that the Bible is silent about and promoting something that the Bible contradicts. I am not talking about the former. I am talking about the latter. In another thread, I state the following: "I see no biblical justification for saying that...

    Obey Or Disobey

Horsecamp, what with my eyesight not being as good as it used to be, I appreciate the use of font larger than 14-point, but why did you choose to use font of such a massive size? To me, you choice of font size is the equivalent of yelling, and yelling isn't a way to convince people to believe...

Was Nelson Mandela a Christian? Yes or No

What were Nelson Mandela's beliefs at the time of his death? According to the book of Acts, the Apostle Paul started out as a pharisee who persecuted the Church, but he wasn't like that when he died. Instead, his beliefs changed when he had a personal encounter with the resurrected Messiah...

    IN THE BEGINNING GOD......

Apparently, I need to repeat the following: Stephen Jay Gould, evolutionary biologist: “Darwin did not use evolution to promote atheism or to maintain that no concept of God could ever be squared with the structure of nature. Rather, he argued that nature’s factuality, as read within the...

So, the deer will be the only ones hunting the human residents of the Hamptons?

Strange Fire - A Pentecostal Response

Just do an Internet search of images showing people who are allegedly "slain in the spirit". Here is another one: The images that I have shown are identical to what I witnessed, and what the images show contradicts 1 Corinthians 14:25 (ESV). What matters is what is the standard to judge...

    Noah's Ark, I mean really??????

Plenty of Christians (and plenty of Jews) reject a strict literal interpretation of every minute detail of the flood story in Genesis, and yet they still believe in God's existence. I will quote a statement made by biologist Dr. Kenneth R. Miller: “My friends and colleagues in nonscientific...

Strange Fire - A Pentecostal Response

1 John 4:1 is the Bible verse that I apply whenever I encounter events that others claim to be of the Holy Spirit. For example, in light of what the Apostle Paul says in 1 Corinthians 14, I know that when a prayer to God in biblical tongues is interpreted correctly, the interpretation is also a...

Strange Fire - A Pentecostal Response

    1. 1 Corinthians 14:25 refers to a previously-non-believing man voluntarily making himself prostrate on the ground so as to acknowledge that the God of Christianity is the real God. Here is an illustration of what that verse is talking about. In contrast, the alleged "slain in the Spirit"...

are we just wasting our money giving it to pro life groups that never get the job done

I know of a case in which the father walked away because the mother wouldn't get an abortion. No, the two weren't married to each other.

Strange Fire - A Pentecostal Response

Wow, what ad hominem that is. I compare certain customs to what the Bible says, and for that I am labeled a Sardisean. Go figure. Anyway, the power of the Holy Spirit is on display in numerous churches where there are none of the displays mentioned in the OP. Plenty of people have...

    The prophets' speaking skills

There is another fact about the ones who prophesy under God's direction. They give their prophetic messages directly in a language spoken by the people. They don't use a middle-person who speaks in ecstatic utterances, like the oracles at Delphi did.

are we just wasting our money giving it to pro life groups that never get the job done

The last time that I checked, it takes two people to make a baby, one female, the other male. I don't see how it would be legal for a pregnant woman to kill her own unborn child without the child's father giving his consent to the killing.

    To learn the true gospel

Apocalypticist, you have jumped the shark with that above-quoted statement of yours. Clearly, you are claiming to have an extra-biblical revelation.

Strange Fire - A Pentecostal Response

Like or not, even we Christians can be guilty of wanting to see a show, of wanting to experience an emotional high. So, we can easily make the mistake of believing that an experience is of the Holy Spirit if it is emotional pleasing to us. Shucks, sometimes we will claim that an experience is...
