I think it has to do with reference to the sabbath. Its not about a day of worship its about having faith today and have His rest. Its used a lot to prove it does not matter what day we worship. Jesus fufilled the sabbath. Kriss is good at explaing it more inn detail.

Your right it is a little complicated because it has been distorted over the years with popular sermons to appease people that their loved ones are in heaven. The old testament people understood it very simply. It gets more distorted in the new testament.Good luck.
