And not just told to stop but told what would happen if you "live by the sword". I guess we as individuals...

Well then they didn't listen or forgot what He taught them. Please remind me, which ones put up a fight before being taken captive or put to death? He was/is the defense. God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

I sell hundreds of guns a year in my shop. Probably more. I own many for my personal use. (target shooting and hunting). My personal conviction is that the Lord is my defense and I don't feel led to defend myself or my family with firearms. I love the mechanics of them, especially the old ones...

Good, someone understands what I'm saying. In a way I see how if we give mercy, we obtain mercy. Same with forgiveness and so on. In these I say we reap what we sow. But when we receive mercy or forgiveness for a transgression it isn't deserved so we are not reaping from what we sown there.

House churches are great! And not cultish at all, imo. ;)

It's a fair question. But I've had similar experiences with large churches in large buildings. But I would imagine you could go to about any church and find past members that would have some negative thing to say about their former church. I would have to agree that dangers lurk in house...
