    There is tribulation; John 16.33. But the great tribulation does not involve the church, Matthew 24; Luke 21. It's not Israel or Gentiles in view in 1 Thess. 4, where harpazo is used.

    What isn't of God's treasure in that sense will face the Great Tribulation, Matthew 24; Luke 21. The church does not go through the Great Tribulation. Caught up indeed; waiting for Him, 'till He com'.

    If so at all, it would have been the baptism of John...not specifically Christian baptism. (But it's doubtful he was a disciple of John, either....)

    Elsewhere in Scripture, Jews, Gentiles and the church of God are mentioned overwhelmingly: they are not all lumped together as one entity, supposedly. In 1 Cor. 11.26 the rapture is clearly linked to the church.

    Hi @Mantis Re. timing, yes the Lord is Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending (Revelation 1), so praying consistently and waiting on His good time is all part of the logic of faith, right?

    @Mr E Yes, and Scripture is in the end the guide to their validity. Philippians 4.8 gives a lot of scope in the context of 'think on these things...'

    @Mr E Seems anyway like it's become something that young ppl when reaching 18 or thereabouts simply expect to go do. There's probably a case (particulaly if their kids are a bit naive) for some parents even to take their 16/17 year olds to a tattoo parlor to learn and be advised of how planning...
