    Perpetual virginity of Mary!

I don't believe in sola scriptura, so preaching it's limitations to me is very silly. I would like to hear you answer why you all put lots of energy into this Marian discussion when it's a dead-on-arrival with sola scriptura people.

    Perpetual virginity of Mary!

Spurgeon's Girl is (presumably) Sola Scriptura and only accepts things which are explicitly written in the Bible as being part of God's Truths. Marian doctrines are not explicitly stated, and hence not believed. It's a done discussion. If you're aware of this, why the continuing effort...

    Perpetual virginity of Mary!

Then I'm not understanding your discussion with @Spurgeon's Girl (whom I'm assuming is Sola Scriptura adherent).

    Perpetual virginity of Mary!

Hi @Mungo , I'll address this big picture--- Obviously there are many things that are true with are not stated explicitly (or remotely) in the Bible. That's a very obvious fact. The more specific question is "are there things which are part of God's saving Truths that are not written in the...

    Bible alone?

That is how I feel with this thread as well, and am done being ignored.

    Bible alone?

Nobody here is campaigned for anarchy. The church exists to support a person's walk with Christ - that saving faith/relationship. Not to replace it.

    Bible alone?

Then please tell us about the faith you have individually in your heart -- about your relationship with Christ.

    Bible alone?

A person's butt warming a pew doesn't make them a Christian. A person's going through the motions of a ritual doesn't make them a Christian. A person's reciting some words or reading some book doesn't make them a Christian. All of the above is 100% hallow until that person has a changed heart...

    Bible alone?

I have asked NUMEROUS times for you to show me how you follow Christ, love Christ, celebrate Christ, etc. You have not. I can only conclude that you can't. Therefore, I have no evidence that you are in fact a Christian, and in that great void I can't really consider you to be a Christian at...

    Bible alone?

    Bump for @theefaith

    Bible alone?

Again, I'm going to passionately disagree with that interpretation of things. I do thank you for sharing your view though.
  12. J

    Bible alone?

... I'm going to passionately disagree with that second sentence.
  13. J

    Bible alone?

A Christian is a disciple of Christ. Tell me how you follow Christ. Tell me how you love Christ. Tell me how you celebrate Christ. Tell me about your faith in Christ. Show me that you are not an empty vessel blindly following some mortals, but a thinking intelligent person whom loves...

    Bible alone?

If you do believe, and you are a Christian, then please show me SOMETHING of your own faith development and relationship with Christ. Because I'm only seeing the opposite right now.
  15. J

    Bible alone?

And HOW do you know that the Catholic Church is those successors? I'm sorry that I need to ask this but: @theefaith are you even a Christian? Please show me SOMETHING of your own faith development and relationship with Christ. Because I'm not seeing any of it right now.
  16. J

    Bible alone?

That's getting closer, but still quite a ways to go. How do you know that the Catholic church is THE church? How do you know that the Bishop of Rome is an actual Bishop? Him claiming it means nothing -- many many of others claim that too. You like to make that comment about thousands of...

    Bible alone?

I'm still awaiting an real answer to mine and CadyandZoe's question ---

    Perpetual virginity of Mary!

Again: His glory is not remotely dependent on any mortal.. Your personal Mary-focusness comes across as downright idolatry, not Catholic veneration. Still, I acknowledge that you're not going to realize that, so I'll stop trying to explain other POV's.

    Perpetual virginity of Mary!

Christ routinely interacted with sinners. Including being raised by a man you acknowledge as a sinner (Joseph the Carpenter). His glory is not remotely dependent on any mortal.

    Bible alone?

Yes. I look forward to hearing real answers from you when you find them. A deeper epistemology is so benefitail.
