Baptism is the GREAT battle for control over you or for your liberty in Christ.

Well, that's another thread...but its not like the CC as we have it today for sure. There was just the universal Church...and how it operated then was far different than how any of us (Protestants, Catholics, Orthodox, etc.) operate today. Hopefully the church as a whole can be unified...

    Creationism in science class rooms

Are you suggesting that if the mechanic is a Christian it limits his ability to work on your car? However, even in these matters this is significant. A mechanic who sees his purpose in life is to "get what he can and can what he gets" and one who sees themselves accountable to a Creator may...

Why some dislike towards theologians/textual critics?

I do think there is a difference between one's level of intelligence and laziness. The two are not the same. God used ineloquent people (although some could argue that Moses was well ahead of much of Israel since he grew up in a palace rather than as a slave, but this is beside the point) and...

    Creationism in science class rooms

I disagree. Secularism is a positively constructed ideology. It is based on a very specific philosophy, theology, ontology, epistemology that shapes every aspect of it. You have bought into the lie of this worldview that it was constructed in a vacuum of facts that was formed once the...

Baptism is the GREAT battle for control over you or for your liberty in Christ.

Yeah, I tend not to follow up on links. Anyone can put up a website and call themselves "Dr" or write whatever they want without having to have their facts checked by a publisher. Its why I tend to cite published sources from creditable publishers and would urge everyone to be cautious of...

Why some dislike towards theologians/textual critics?

I do think this can be a tricky subject that can be approached improperly from both sides. Someone's IQ or formal study does not make them a better or worse Christian. However, someone can use the gifts given to them to serve the Lord, and these things should not be despised. If someone has a...

wordsponge, are you a Jehovah's witness?

    Creationism in science class rooms

River, You are completely missing my entire argument. Its not just about assumptions of where things come from. Its the very foundations of epistemology and ontology that secularism is built upon.

    Creationism in science class rooms

Well I would argue that you are exalting the idea of autonomous human reason over God. Here is why I think your three options are faulty. Suppose a person teaches "Creationism" in the classroom but never says anything about the Creator. They speak of the "science" behind the earth being...

How can the body of Christ function properly without eyes and ears?

What am I ignoring? Please point to a text. I have no issue with the Romans text you pointed out. Yes, God made some prophets and they prophesied according to their faith. How does this text prove my biblical definition of a prophet to be incorrect?

    Creationism in science class rooms

I disagree. How can the laws of the USA not be "religious?" It is all based on a particular epistemology, ontology and view of humanity that is intrinsically religious. You think the decision to make the murder of the unborn legal is an areligious proposition? You think the decision to go to...

How can the body of Christ function properly without eyes and ears?

Thanks for your response. So let me get this straight... You think I should ignore my very extensive and in-depth searching of God's Word on this subject, my inner convictions as well as my extensive experience with self-claimed prophets because....you say you are a prophet and you say so...

    Creationism in science class rooms

River, I don't know that there is a simple answer other than to have people stop suggesting that secular education is non-religious while Christian education is religious. Both are religious. It needs to be made clear to the public that both political policies as well as educational tracts...

    Creationism in science class rooms

Well the fault is mine. I know these concepts and phrases are not commonplace. Let me try a different way of explaining it. Secularism teaches that we all possess a universal, autonomous reason. As Decartes put it, "I think therefore I am." The only thing certain in life is my own logic...

Baptism is the GREAT battle for control over you or for your liberty in Christ.

Well it seems clear we are either dealing with a JW or a Oneness Pentacostal. This is obviously an anti-Trinitarian thread. I have no use for this discussion and its conspiracy theories.

How can the body of Christ function properly without eyes and ears?

Well Michael, I have tried to show you that there are definitions for these offices. It is how people (and God) determined what a prophet was, and conversely what constitutes false prophecy. Its how the Apostles determined who would take the place of Judas (Acts 1:21-22). I have had many...

How can the body of Christ function properly without eyes and ears?

This was the scripture I was referencing. My point is the foundation is laid. Nothing more than that. I am not limiting Christ. I am reflecting on what the Word of God teaches. Why is it that because I disagree with what a prophet is and does, that I am somehow limiting Christ? I am simply...

How can the body of Christ function properly without eyes and ears?

By my own reasoning? When did I say God cant do something? Certainly God can speak as he created the mouth. God can create sound waves, and as the Bible is evidently clear, people distinctly hear him speak with a voice many times throughout scripture. I don't know what you are driving at...

Becoming a disciple of Jesus Christ

I don't think the NT makes such clear distinctions between salvation and discipleship. I don't think the early church thought in terms of someone being saved but not a disciple or a disciple but not saved. I find it hard to believe that the disciples were not "saved" yet the thief on the cross...

    Context! Context! Context!

Well, I think there is a bit of irony in that statement. Not unlike Matt. 22:12. Jesus is heightening the depth of the betrayal by his reference to Judas as a friend. In any event, its clear that Judas was a betrayer and an enemy of Christ though Jesus had done him no wrong.
