What does it mean to sin?

What does it mean to sin? To have one's inner world revolving around oneself. It comes down to raw selfishness when we strip away all the facades we construct to flatter our view of ourselves and for that of others.

What is the truth that sets us free?

Presumption does not wash. God is neither violent nor unjust. This only computes for those who know Jesus. For all others, violence is the final solution or at least it appears that way to them. It is so because they cannot/ do not see another way.

Is Antisemitism caused by hatred of the Sabbath?

When I read the fourth commandment Hobie, I read that it was given to and for us to rest....you know, have a break from the everyday activity and busy-ness. Hang out with your friends and enjoy each other company; hang out with Jesus in your midst. How is it that a day designated for rest has...

Is Antisemitism caused by hatred of the Sabbath?

According to his prayer in the garden, it was the last thing he wanted to do....but it seems men were so intent on getting rid of him, he allowed them to kill him. He knew men would stop at nothing to kill him but that didn't stop him from visiting our planet to show us first hand the character...

Is Antisemitism caused by hatred of the Sabbath?

Have you ever wondered why Jesus remained silent and didn't defend himself when he was arraigned before the Sanhedrin, Jack? Just imagine the scriptures he could have quoted. Just imagine the tricks he could have pulled after walking on the water, making paralysed people walk. Feeding thousands...

    Bible reading plans

They fail to read it because either they are unmotivated; its exponents don't inspire them or thinking is too much of an ask.

    Bible reading plans

I like Spurgeon's quote. I guess it depends on how one see's what is said. 'Habitually' does not mean putting the scripture into a strait jacket of ritual whereas 'reading plan' sounds regimented and undeviating. Religion loves 'reading plans', loves regimentation, loves control, loves rules...

What is the truth that sets us free?

What is the truth that sets us free? It has been believed throughout the millennia that God is violent towards those who oppose or reject him. There are many accounts in the OT that attribute violence to that which God has ordered or directly to God himself. If it were not for the clear witness...

    Unravelling Revelation

Sounds like a plausible explanation. I would however say that prediction does not equal causation. God who knows the end from the beginning can tell us how history will pan out but this doesn't mean he has orchestrated it. It is Jesus who confirms there is an Evil player in the cosmic conflict...

    Unravelling Revelation

If we condense the four Gospels and say they are a record of the character of God, could we also say the four living creatures are representative of all created intelligences (note 'four' = universal ie, north, south, east and west).....again, all corners of the Universe witnessing to the...

if i wanted to become a catholic

It is standard practice, no matter where one goes in the World, that those doing the persecuting will malign those they are persecuting. The practice is a reflection of their Father who from the outset practised this.

if i wanted to become a catholic

I have never heard that the early Christians were cannibals but of course I can believe this would be the narrative and the justification by their persecutors and therefore reason to pursue them. In real terms they were persecuted because of their trust in Jesus as opposed to their trust in...

if i wanted to become a catholic

Couldn't you describe that as 'magical thinking'?.....of course it includes the rationalisation.

if i wanted to become a catholic

One would wonder considering the regular preference of Israel to copy the practices of their neighbours.

if i wanted to become a catholic

Isn't that the mindset of Pagans; holding God in their hands?.....and then rationalising it.

    Unravelling Revelation

I have just watched this presentation. It opens a perspective of Jesus generally unknown in much of Christendom. It also touches on Revelation later in the dialog which ties in with your/ our discussion. You might consider viewing/ listening to it?

    Unravelling Revelation

Could it be that heaven is the sanctuary, even further, Jesus is the sanctuary?

If You Could Have a 5 min. Conversation with God . . .

Where is our consciousness of God? Is it on the other side of the Universe somewhere or is it as close as our heart's and our mouth's? Is it that he is present now or is it that he is absent and needs reminding of a lot of things?

    Unravelling Revelation

Establishing everything in the presence of at least two witnesses was the custom of the day. The Father also has two witnesses; the Son and the Spirit. On the Mt of Transfiguration there was Moses and Elijah. There are the scriptures; the Old and New Testaments and so on. The designation of the...
