    Soul vs SPIRIT

The flesh is under the power of the spirit in us, being spiritually dead in trespasses and sins. In natural spirit being spiritually dead we are without power through Christ's Spirit in us to wage war against the desires of our flesh. The desires of our flesh come from the spirit breath of...

    Soul vs SPIRIT

It is the Spirit in us, making us spiritually alive that gives us the ability to wage spiritual warfare against the lusts of our flesh and this world. Before we are born again of His Spirit, we are spiritually dead. That's why our desire before we are born again is for whatever our flesh and...

    Soul vs SPIRIT

Our natural spirit is the breath of life that every living breathing physical creature has for physical life on earth. Without the breath of life which is spirit, there would be no physical life. The Spirit of Christ is in us when we are born again. The Spirit of Christ gives spiritual life...

    Soul vs SPIRIT

John 6:63 (KJV) It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. Genesis 2:7 (KJV) And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a...

If our interpretation of scripture sidesteps common sense, did we get it right?

Who here has argued that water baptism is the means of being justified before God? Just because some denominations wrongly teach that obedience to the Law is necessary to be justified before God, does not mean the ordinances of the Church should be done away with. Rightly taught and practiced...

If our interpretation of scripture sidesteps common sense, did we get it right?

Yes, which is what baptism by water symbolizes. In the same way that crossing of the sea was symbolic of being baptized unto Moses, the servant of the Lord. Death to slavery and life through the water, in which Israel was saved and saw "that great work which the LORD did..." In the same way...

If our interpretation of scripture sidesteps common sense, did we get it right?

Yes, it symbolizes the life, death and resurrection of Christ. Romans 6:4 (KJV) Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. Colossians 2:12 (KJV) Buried...

If our interpretation of scripture sidesteps common sense, did we get it right?

This is not true. Water baptism, like circumcision of Old, shows a separation between the body of Christ and the world. We are called to separate ourselves from the world, and this ordinance is a means the Church utilizes, as did Christ, to prove to the world that we are not the same because...

If our interpretation of scripture sidesteps common sense, did we get it right?

Not sure what translation you use here, but I don't think "common sense" is a very good translation for "sound wisdom". The two are not necessarily the same thing. Proverbs 2:7-17 (KJV) He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly. He keepeth the...

    Soul vs SPIRIT

No, it is mankind that clings to this doctrine of humankind being three part. The creation clearly tells us man was created with a body + breath of life (spirit) and the TWO together are called "a living soul." It is only when man is born again through the Spirit of Christ in them that man...

If our interpretation of scripture sidesteps common sense, did we get it right?

Why did the Lord submit to being baptized in water? Was He not setting an example for His disciples (Church) to follow? My apologies St Steven. I don't mean to highjack your thread!

If our interpretation of scripture sidesteps common sense, did we get it right?

If a doctrine supposedly found in Scripture doesn't make sense, then it is IMO nonsense! The Word of God should teach, not confuse. For instance if what we believe the Bible is teaching causes contradiction, clearly there is something wrong with our understanding.

If our interpretation of scripture sidesteps common sense, did we get it right?

I don't believe that people, Christians, are intentionally gullible. But there is a tendency to believe what is taught rather than applying ourselves to searching to know if what is being taught is true.

    Soul vs SPIRIT

There is only one way the spirit and soul can be separated. That's by physically dying in unbelief. Spirit is more than mere breath. It is the breath of life, without spirit and Spirit there is neither physical or spiritual life! Without life the body remains a corpse. When mankind...

    The Order of Salvation

Because sin robs believers of the peace we have with God. Though our sins and iniquities are remembered no more as far as our eternal salvation is concerned, we have to remember that God still chastens us when we sin. That chastening is not pleasant, and in fact could contribute to our...

Born again : = Get this knowledge.

This unbiblical doctrine comes from teaching of the JW's! They aren't alone in their unbiblical way of thinking, other denominations also deny eternal security in Christ, believing, like JW's that our salvation is dependent upon how good we are.

    The Order of Salvation

The Mosiac sacrificial and ceremonial Laws have been abolished. In Christ the moral law of God is written in our hearts, that we might not sin against Him. Matthew 22:36 (KJV) Master, which is the great commandment in the law? Matthew 22:37-40 (KJV) Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love...

    The Order of Salvation

To be our example, Christ shows His obedience to fulfill all the Law required. God gave us these ordinances that we might REMEMBER, and look to Christ that we might be perfected through Him, and not our imperfect obedience to the Law, but to His perfect obedience!

    The Order of Salvation

The Law also shows us it is impossible for mankind to perfectly obey. Yet perfect obedience is required in the Law, for even one transgression will bring death. That's why Christ came to fulfill all that the Law demanded. And also, why believers don't depend on our perfect obedience, but are...

    The Order of Salvation

Who of unregenerate mankind will confess with the mouth from the heart unless they first believe? The word that is near, even in thy mouth and heart is the Word of faith; the Gospel preached. Faith (ability to believe) comes through hearing the Word! When we hear and believe according to...
