Fasting: Does it actually do anything? Do you have a testimony?

@Hidden In Him and @FluffyYellowDuck, If literal physical fasting was not God's will, why did Jesus fast for 40 days? This is so to intensify the body to crave for food that anyone can fall prey when "tested" as Satan tempted Jesus. To God Be The Glory

Fasting: Does it actually do anything? Do you have a testimony?

Where is the match and who is doing the yelling? Somebody is assuming. To God Be The Glory

Fasting: Does it actually do anything? Do you have a testimony?

Show me in the Bible where fasting (abstain from food) is in the will of God? Already in Isaiah 58:6, God tells us the meaning of fasting (to lose the band of wickedness...etc,.) just as Jesus did in Matthew 17:21. Did Jesus have to fast? NO! Then why couldn't the disciples cast out the devil...

Fasting: Does it actually do anything? Do you have a testimony?

Why do you suppose I gave Matthew 28:19 in response to your post? This is God's intent as to fasting: Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke? All the language above...

Fasting: Does it actually do anything? Do you have a testimony?

There are no spiritual values in fasting (abstaining from food) except to clean your system. Fasting has to do with witnessing as per Matthew 28:19. To God Be The Glory

    Where does the Bible say...

EXACTLY! If Jesus is God then Mary who is Jesus' mother according to you, should also be divine herself! Scripture at the beginning declared God made everything after its' kind. Out of your own mouth comes blasphemy!!! Taking away the glory that God alone saves. To God Be The Glory

    Where does the Bible say...

As I've already asserted Mary can NEVER be the Mother of God! as she lacks the substance and essence of being a God. In fact, Mary uttered in her magnificat: "My soul doth magnify the Lord, And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour." Now why would Mary say the above if she's the mother of...

    Where does the Bible say...

I beg to differ! Mary can NEVER be the mother of God as she is a created being a homo sapient. To be the mother of God Mary too had to be a god herself. As regarding to the word "knew" it can either mean "knowledge" or "intimate relation" between a husband and wife, however; consider how...

    Where does the Bible say...

If the above is true, how then can you reconcile Matthew 13:55-56, in contrast with your belief that Mary was a perpetual (forever) virgin? This is impossible, of course, according to Matthew 13:55-56!!! To God Be The Glory

    Where does the Bible say...

BTW, only God can answer the OP and He answered it in Revelation 22:18-19. Please don't say that the term "book" in both verses means only the "book" of revelation! To God Be The Glory

    Where does the Bible say...

What about it? John 1:45 must be read in light of Luke3:23 which reads: Also, Joseph is from the lineage of Nathan where there will no king coming out from that line. "And Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph..." From what I read of...

    Where does the Bible say...

Because you do not have the knowledge and understanding of Scripture!! Not only was Mary chosen because she was a virgin (miracle birth - Matthew 1:25), No! she was chosen because she was in the line of David whose son she will bare would be the LAST KING of Israel as was predicted in the Old...

JESUS, the Holy Spirit, the Only True God.

I'm afraid it is you who DO NOT understand the above because you are actually describing a God who subsists as three distinct persons in the Godhead (Ge. 1:1, 26; Deut. 6:4), as per the teaching of Holy Writ! Sorry to disagree, the Bible does not teach the above. Your understanding of...

JESUS, the Holy Spirit, the Only True God.

I pray tell, where do you find the verse that states that the name Jehovah is a false name?

JESUS, the Holy Spirit, the Only True God.

I stand corrected concerning between God's names vs titles, as to what or who He is. But who or what is God in Isaiah 43:11. Is He Jehovah or YHWH?

    Where does the Bible say...

You can misinterpret Scripture if you like because of your church doctrines. I just don't wish for you to fall under Matthew 7:22-23. To God Be The Glory

Also, what the CC don't realize is that the word "catholic" means "universal." To God Be The Glory

JESUS, the Holy Spirit, the Only True God.

God assigns to Himself many names so as to reveal to us His many essence and substance. Which LORD is depicted in Isaiah 43:11?

    Where does the Bible say...

Are you now saying that there are those of the protestant persuasion who are changing and agreeing with the Catholic interpretation? But who are these protestants? Did they write a book/letter that became part of the Bible? Or, are they saying their word carries more weight than Jesus who...
