How to debate the Bible: for beginners

That's okay, we can disagree and still love each other. I respect your take on things though, I do not think there is one single person on here that I agree with 100%

Because you did not lie to the Holy Spirit?? :D

Do you think that I did not right away repent and ask His forgiveness?? He has already forgiven me.

    For those who Love Jesus

Why do we not get alerts! I follow both you and @Butterfly (Rita) yet, I rarely get your alerts!! Oh Helen, how I wish we all could be closer to one another in this land. One day, one day we will! Good word Rita, "vision"! And, very appropriate scripture - Romans 8:28 ! He sure does make...

I kind of liken Holiness with righteousness.

How to debate the Bible: for beginners

"Holiness [N] [T] in the highest sense belongs to God ( Isaiah 6:3 ; Revelation 15:4 ), and to Christians as consecrated to God's service, and in so far as they are conformed in all things to the will of God ( Romans 6:19 Romans 6:22 ; Ephesians 1:4 ; Titus 1:8 ; 1 Peter 1:15 ). Personal...

How to debate the Bible: for beginners

"Paul never claimed to be perfect, but rather pressed on towards the goal. For me the two issues are the walk is long and the end can be achieved in Christ." Agreed! We are in a constant battle with the flesh, sin, and Satan. STRIVING for that high calling means to me that it is an ongoing...

How to debate the Bible: for beginners

For sure! We all (at least, most of us Christians) agree with God yet, will choose our own ways over His at times. My ONLY desire is to do His will at all times...yet, I miss the mark many times. "Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin." James 4:17

What Is God's Definition Of Sin?

Yes! I see this as our consciences either condemning or commending us. Placing stumbling blocks before our bros's and sis's by abusing our freedom.

How to debate the Bible: for beginners

I believe we are progressively freed from the power of sin (Romans 6:15–23). We have been freed from the penalty of sin but are not immune to it. Sin lives in our flesh...sometimes it seems as though we can take 3 steps forward and 2 steps back...we fall but it is the getting back up that...

What Is God's Definition Of Sin?

IMHO, in a nutshell, all sin is disobedience. When we know to do right yet, ignore it...it is sin. Jesus said that all the Law and Prophets hang on the two He gave us...my take is that if we are fulfilling those two, then the rest fall in line and we will not break them?

When is 'Speaking in Tongues', true versus false.

Unfortunately, Dave L. left this forum last year. He was my favorite Calvinist on here...he was kind and did not come back with nasty, snarky self-righteous remarks. I miss him.

    What happens when we die?

" I think the crux of your point is going to be "why is body and soul mentioned separately if they are one and the same .."?" <---Yes, you are correct, this would have been my next question, lol.

    What happens when we die?

last night, I watched your first video and then, reading Matthew this morning, when I came upon Matthew 10:28 , I see that the soul and the body are separate: "Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body...

How to debate the Bible: for beginners

Just curious here, is there something sinful about my post to which you replied: "Forgive her, Lord Jesus! (1 John 5:16)." ?

How to debate the Bible: for beginners

Amen my sister! This can be comforting because human nature always expects "more" than enough...it is of course, impossible to meet His standard which is perfection. But, through Christ, we are redeemed! And, we must come to grips with the fact that this spiritual fight between the flesh and...

The vast range of Greys between Black and White

So true abut the mega Church's. And seeing that Jesus said they thought they were "rich" and had need of nothing...commerce, lot's of money to be made.

How to debate the Bible: for beginners

Agreed!!! I too liken abiding in Him to walking in the Spirit. To me, it's a surrendering each day and, when we continually do it, one day we will see that many of our sins and years long habits have been shed like, for instance...I used to be a crazy driver, getting hot under the collar when...

The vast range of Greys between Black and White

Several years back , I heard a teaching on these cold and hot water outlets. Was not sure what to make of it and, what you posted above is the only other time I heard of this. Allot to be learned from this.

Verses that DON'T convey what they say ...

Well, after all...He is a rewarder of those who DILIGENTLY seek Him :)
