    Understanding : Acts 2:38

None of that says anything about God speaking to you personally and individually. It is speaking about the indwelling Holy Spirit that one receives when his sins are forgiven and he receives the gift of the Holy Spirit, i.e., when he is saved.

    Understanding : Acts 2:38

The "word of God" is either the "Logos", i.e., Jesus (John 1:1), or God's special revelation, the written word, which we have received from God bye the apostles and prophets through the Holy Spirit (Heb 1:1).

    Understanding : Acts 2:38

Nah, what you hear is simply voices in your head or maybe in dreams while you are sleeping. If all of what you say there were true, then God would certainly have told us so in His written word. But he didn't. John 3:8 is nothing about hearing voices. It is simply saying that there is no...

    Understanding : Acts 2:38

Almost none of that is scriptural; but is instead nothing more than your imagination.

    Understanding : Acts 2:38

In fact, it is only through reading scripture or hearing scripture from a preacher that you can know what it even means that Jesus died on the cross. Rom 10:14 How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And...

    Understanding : Acts 2:38

You have a lot to say about the "Living word of God". It seems, however to the contrary, that the Bible has nothing at all to say about it. There seems to be not the slightest mention of it in the Bible. So what could you possibly mean by being "in this thread by the Living word of God?

    Understanding : Acts 2:38

Wrong, it is because God is actually speaking the same thing to both and that is nothing at all to both.

    Understanding : Acts 2:38

God is obviously not speaking to your spirit the same things that He is speaking to Greatful's spirit. How come God speaks different things to different people's spirits about the same things?

    Understanding : Acts 2:38

Where do you think I said that? He is trying to get them to see that the work they must do is believing. Those who believe and are baptized will be saved.

    Understanding : Acts 2:38

You are really reaching now. Are you trusting the work of the Roman soldiers who nailed Jesus to the cross? Have you placed your trust in the nails holding Jesus on that cross? I think the hole that you have dug is quite deep enough; you should stop digging now.

    Understanding : Acts 2:38

No one that I know of has ever said that either of them saves. ButGod saves those who do. No it is not God's work. Jesus answered their question in verse 28, "what must we do......" Clearly his answer was to tell them what they must do.

    Understanding : Acts 2:38

It is not a deception that Jesus said, "whosoever believes and is baptized will be saved".
  13. J

    Understanding : Acts 2:38

It can be wrong without being a lie. A lie is knowingly speaking an untruth.

    Understanding : Acts 2:38

Act 2:38 And Peter said to them, "Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Act 2:39 For the promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off, everyone whom the...

    Understanding : Acts 2:38

You can't trust something that you have no knowledge of. The cross of Christ serves no purpose for you if you have no knowledge of it.
  16. J

    Understanding : Acts 2:38

    That's easy. God's promise.
  17. J

    Understanding : Acts 2:38

Try reading and understanding John 6. In Greek is is called πίστις [pistis], same for belief. It happens both in the mind and in the heart. Faith is mental assent plus trust.

    Understanding : Acts 2:38

What does it mean that Water Baptism died on the Cross. Where in the Bible does it say anything about that?
  19. J

    Understanding : Acts 2:38

Believing is a work. Jesus said so.

    Understanding : Acts 2:38

Nothing, but if it is only Jesus' blood and death, then it must be universal and all are saved. It turns out that you could have if you had never sinned; in which case you would have earned it. But as Paul said, all have sinned, so you lose and you need another way to receive eternal life...
