CALVINISM: The height of Spiritual depravity

Yes, by the likes of Augustine of Hippo. Unfortunately, his thinking was much too influenced by his Manichaeism on matters of the struggle between a good, spiritual world, and an evil, material world. That philosophy, I am convinced, was what led him to his heretical view of God's inability to...

Am I the only one on the planet who understands Romans 7?

You think there were no Jews who were Christian. If you object to the phrase "Jewish Christians", then how about Christian Jews?

Am I the only one on the planet who understands Romans 7?

That he is addressing Jewish Christians doesn't make it not addressing the Church. No doubt some of the non-Jewish Christians were aware to some degree of the Law of Moses. That is not something Paul hid from them.

Why do some people not like the idea of OSAS?

Not OSAS is not insecurity. The non-Calvin types professing OSAS typically tout free will except after having been saved. OSAS is not a requirement for eternal security. Salvation is by grace through faith and security is by grace through faith.

Why do some people not like the idea of OSAS?

Why do some people not like the idea of OSAS? Because it is wrong!?

CALVINISM: The height of Spiritual depravity

I will let Rella answer for herself if she chooses to do so, but I will address that from my own point of view. First, let me say that I think the Calvinist/Reformed Theology view, which I think is your view as well, is completely wrong. That view, in part I believe, is that God's plan was to...

Am I the only one on the planet who understands Romans 7?

What I understand is that you "see" what isn't there.

Am I the only one on the planet who understands Romans 7?

And the phrase "sin nature" is not in any of those. And nothing there about "Total depravity inherited from Adam" either. Nice try though.

Am I the only one on the planet who understands Romans 7?

My reply #31 was in response to your phrase "sin nature". That phrase is simply not found in scripture. Moreover, it typically results from the false notion of Total Depravity inherited from Adam, something you mentioned in the post I was replying to. That false concept is at the heart of...

    Interpretation based upon Systematic Theology

I guess that means that you have a close personal relationship with him? :D:D

    Interpretation based upon Systematic Theology

And yet, nothing there says that the Holy Spirit dictated the words that are written. Inspiration and dictation are not the same thing at all.

SALVATION: BY GRACE OR BY WORKS? A FALSE DICHOTOMY

For anyone with the ability to read and comprehend, the message in 1 Peter 1 should be almost self explanatory. In the Bible. That is what Peter is trying to tell you in verse 25. No Rita, it is you who have absolutely no spiritual understanding. You quote verse 23 again and again but have...

The Atonement: What did it REALLY Accomplish?

If Adam's death affected the whole of mankind and if Jesus' death affected only the limited "elect", then, by definition, Jesus' death was less effective, even far less effective, than was Adam's death. But of course that is not the case. Jesus' sacrifice was for the whole world, not just the...

SALVATION: BY GRACE OR BY WORKS? A FALSE DICHOTOMY

Peter, not me, said in 1 Peter 1:25: (ESV) but the word of the Lord remains forever." And this word is the good news that was preached to you. (KJV) But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you. (NASB) BUT THE WORD OF THE LORD...

SALVATION: BY GRACE OR BY WORKS? A FALSE DICHOTOMY

And what is the living word of God? 1Pe 1:23 since you have been born again, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God; 1Pe 1:24 for "All flesh is like grass and all its glory like the flower of grass. The grass withers, and the flower falls, 1Pe...

CALVINISM: The height of Spiritual depravity

Absolutely everything. There is nothing that God does not know. He is omniscient. His foreknowledge is His omniscience of the future. It is the false construct of Total Depravity, not God, that says that neither angels nor man can love God without first being "chosen". That is not from God...

    Interpretation based upon Systematic Theology

There is no indication that the Holy Spirit dictated the words that are written. That is not what it means tthat God's word is the inspired work of the apostles and prophets. Heb 1:1 Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, Heb 1:2 but in these...

Am I the only one on the planet who understands Romans 7?

Still nothing about a sin nature. Being saved does not mean that we no longer sin. it means that our sins are forgiven.

    Interpretation based upon Systematic Theology

Jesus said that believing was a work. So then when Abraham believed God, that was a work. And that was counted unto Abraham for righteousness. That is, Abraham was justified. He was saved. That brings up the whole question of what is law. Rom 2:14 For when Gentiles, who do not have the law...
