    Sanctified by the BLOOD

Is this to say that we have no indwelling sin if we are in Christ?
  2. J

    Sanctified by the BLOOD

Positionally we have no sin if we are in Christ. For the Father looks down on us and sees the blood. However, this does not change the fact that we have indwelling sin.

    Sanctified by the BLOOD

The answer that is obviously correct is 2). But it appears that @Behold is attempting to teach 1).

I'm not sure I understand your question.

    Sanctified by the BLOOD

Let's try this again. Now, @Behold, I do think that our abiding is done in faith and not by attempting to live a life that is free from the practice of sin. However, I also believe that the result of truly abiding is that a man will "sin not" (1 John 3:6); and also, if a man is born of God...

    Sanctified by the BLOOD

The question has been diverted. Thanks.

@Behold, would you expound the following:

I suppose that we can wait a little while longer. However, I would say that if @Behold does not have an answer, and cannot exegete the verses in question, that it is very likely because his doctrine is contradicted by the verses in question and in order to exegete them he would have to deny...

    Stop Sinning #2

I don't believe that it is a sin to be tempted...James 1:12-16. Temptation comes as the result of desire...and desire does not bring forth sin until after it has conceived. We are tempted because of indwelling sin...but actual sinful behaviour does not come until after desire has conceived and...

    Stop Sinning #2

No...I am reading you not for that reason...but because the Lord has called me to be a watchman on these boards. Some of what you say can help people; but other things in your teaching will cause a man to have an outlook where he deceives himself and the truth is not in him (1 John 1:8)...

    Sanctified by the BLOOD

I was asking @Behold. But since you are answering for him, @Waiting on him, I feel that your answer is somewhat vague. Is your answer 1) or 2) in the above quote?

    What does it mean?

There is one Lord in holy scripture (Ephesians 4:5, 1 Corinthians 8:6); and that Lord is the Father (Matthew 11:25, Luke 10:21). No one can say that Jesus is the Lord except by the Spirit of truth (1 Corinthians 12:3). And Jesus is the Lord (1 Corinthians 8:6). It is written that the son that...

    Spotting the Heretic

Of course, we are in fact "saved sinners" in that we are delivered from the power of sin (1 John 3:5-0) while at the same time the element of sin is not eradicated from your body (1 John 1:8, Galatians 3:22, Romans 3:23). So I am a sinner in that sin dwells in my mortal flesh. However, I am...

@Behold, would you expound the following:

It's been quite a few days and still, @Behold hasn't exegeted the verses in question.

Now, @Behold, I do think that our abiding is done in faith and not by attempting to live a life that is free from the practice of sin. However, I also believe that the result of truly abiding is that a man will "sin not" (1 John 3:6); and also, if a man is born of God, he "doth not" and...

    Sanctified by the BLOOD

How about the scriptures that I referenced to back up my statement, that you conveniently left out? The truth keeps flipping right over your head; and I have explained it many times. We have indwelling sin (1 John 1:8, Galatians 3:22, Romans 3:23); this is a fact of holy scripture. However...

Becoming a perfect Disciple of Christ

We do not endure unto the end because of self-effort. If we endure to the end, it is because we were truly born again and were sealed by the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 1:13-14, 2 Corinthians 1:22, 2 Corinthians 5:5). God does not change His plan of salvation from dispensation to dispensation. In...

    The Twins

We definitely abide by faith; and not sinning is the result of truly abiding in Christ. No; faith is not a matter of my will and self-effort. It is something that the Lord plants in my heart as the result of hearing the word (Romans 10:17). We labour to enter into His rest (Hebrews 4:11)...

    In an Instant = Forever

Of course, this righteousness is practical according to holy scripture (1 John 3:7, Romans 5:19, Matthew 5:6).
  19. J

    Sanctified by the BLOOD

I would say also that sanctification is a practical work in the believer's life (1 John 3:7, Romans 5:19, Matthew 5:6).

Repeated from the other thread (The Twins) #186: Now, @Behold, I do think that our abiding is done in faith and not by attempting to live a life that is free from the practice of sin. However, I also believe that the result of truly abiding is that a man will "sin not" (1 John 3:6); and...
