    Grace is NOT unmerited favor!

You are a sinner (1 John 1:8, Galatians 3:22, Romans 3:23); And it is only the unbelieving ones who deny this reality that they are sinners in need of a Saviour. Because if you are not a sinner, then you can put your trust in the fact that you are not a sinner and you don't need Jesus or His...

    Grace is NOT unmerited favor!

There is not one of us who has no sin (1 John 1:8 is clear on that; also Galatians 3:22, Romans 3:23). So yes, it would be a lie to say that we have no sin.

    Spotting the Heretic

If you can find a link to the sermons I am definitely interested.

    Grace is NOT unmerited favor!

The "we" in 1 John 1:6 is referring to the instance of whether we claim to be in the light and yet walk in darkness. If we claim to be in the light...if we say that we have fellowship with Him...this can be anyone who claims to be a Christian. The qualifying statement that makes them not a...

    Spotting the Heretic

In that it is required that we keep it in memory, there is the question of Alzheimer's. I have heard of people who forget the name their firstborn son; but when you speak the name of Jesus, they perk up and know full well what you are talking about. I think that the memory has to be in the...

    Grace is NOT unmerited favor!

The thing in question is so subtle that I can't figure out how to put the refutation into words. I tried, and failed.

    Spotting the Heretic

However, if you keep the gospel spoken of there in memory, and have not believed in vain, you stand saved by it, according to that passage.

    Spotting the Heretic

Having the knowledge of the gospel as it is referred to in 1 Corinthians 15:1-4.

    Not a sinner.

"We are saved by faith alone; but faith that saves is never alone" ---a famous quote.

What are Your Feelings on Tithes

Jesus said that the Pharisees gave tithes of their anise and cumin and neglected the weightier matters of the law. He said that this they should have done without leaving the other undone. But I was using a shortcut in referring to this statement of our Lord and was attempting to refer to the...

    Spotting the Heretic

So, being unenlightened means you never can be? If that is the case, then no one can be enlightened; because everyone is unenlightened as a baby.

What are Your Feelings on Tithes

It is not of importance; because I was using Jesus' words to refer to the Old Testament details of what it meant to tithe.

    Grace is NOT unmerited favor!

There is confusion in this question. So much so, that I cannot figure out how to explain your error. You just have to consider that 1 John 1:6 and 1 John 1:8 are two different kinds of statements. 1 John 1:6 is speaking of someone who is claiming to be a Christian but isn't. But 1 John 1:8...

What are Your Feelings on Tithes

I consider that the tithe, simplified, is simply 1/10 of your gross income. To say that in order to properly tithe, we must tithe of mint and anise and cumin, is very much what the Pharisees did with the sabbath day laws and other laws in holy scripture...they tied great burdens hard to bear...

Healthy Relating....What does it consist of?

We can certainly interpret scripture by scripture and come up with an interpretation by two scripture passages that is not the same as when we were only looking at one of the two (see 1 Corinthians 2:13 (kjv)). <edit:> 1Co 2:13, Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom...

What are Your Feelings on Tithes

Hey, if you don't want the blessing, by all means don't do what is necessary to receive it. I think that 1 Corinthians 16:1-1-2 is the NT mandate for tithing; and that 1 Corinthians 9:1-18 and 1 Timothy 5:17-18 gives the rationale for supporting a pastor with tithing. I am also of the opinion...

    Pre-Destined Elect - simplified.

Jde 1:3, Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints. Jde 1:4, For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were...

    Dead faith.

If salvation is in any way by our works, then we are in essence saving ourselves by what we do. And, in saying that faith = belief + works, you are saying that works save us to a certain extent; since we are saved by grace through faith (Ephesians 2:8).

What are Your Feelings on Tithes

If you give 10% from the heart, you have brought in the whole tithe; and God will pour out for you a blessing that you will not be able to receive...He will open the windows of heaven for you. If you give less than that 10%, you may still be blessed (Luke 6:38, 2 Corinthians 9:6)...but you will...
