    Grace is NOT unmerited favor!

Everything will be said in its proper time.

    Grace is NOT unmerited favor!

It seems to me that you are just looking for permission to say later that we merit eternal life; and in such a way that those who are initiated will accept what you are saying one way, while the uninitiated will accept it differently. I will say therefore that faith does not merit eternal life...

    Grace is NOT unmerited favor!

No; imputed righteousness is from a living faith alone; and a living faith will produce obedience. So then both obedience and imputed righteousness stem from a living and saving faith. _________________________FAITH ________________________/_____\ ______imputed righteousness____obedience

    Grace is NOT unmerited favor!

We are not redeemed through keeping the laws of Jesus; we are redeemed through faith in Jesus and what He did for us on the Cross. If we have such a faith, we will be made into new creatures in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17). If I am a dog or a swine, I will return to my vomit or go back to...

    Grace is NOT unmerited favor!

The merit by which we obtain eternal life is Christ's merits, which we obtain by faith. It is not any merit of our own. I will contend for the form of sound words for as long as I am alive; for that is something that the Lord has called me to do (see 2 Timothy 1:13). It is those who contend...

    Grace is NOT unmerited favor!

This and the law of faith are one and the same; the terminology of both can be used to describe what I am talking about. Actually, the scripture teaches the following: 1Jo 4:15, Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God. 1Jo 5:4, For whatsoever...

    Grace is NOT unmerited favor!

I agree that we are not lawless. Even though we are not under the law (Romans 6:14) are dead to the law (Romans 7:4, Galatians 2:19) and are delivered from the law (Romans 7:6); this does not make us lawless. For we are governed by the law of faith (Romans 3:27). And also, the law of the Lord...

    Grace is NOT unmerited favor!

We do not come to God on the basis of our own merits, even if you define merits as conditions necessary to qualify for eternal life. The only condition that is necessary is faith in Jesus (John 6:28-29). We come to God on the basis of His merits.

    Grace is NOT unmerited favor!

I don't know about you, but I've been set free from sin because of being set free from the law. It was the truth of understanding that I'm forgiven that set me free.

    Grace is NOT unmerited favor!

There is victory when sin can no longer take advantage of the law to produce within us all manner of concupiscence. The motions of sins are by the law; when you can get rid of the condemnation of the law, sin no longer has the power to utilize the law to bring you into sinful behaviour. See my...

    Grace is NOT unmerited favor!

Yes I agree with that. There is no one who truly merits eternal life except for Jesus Christ; and He took our sin penalty upon Himself and transferred His merits unto us.

    Grace is NOT unmerited favor!

Paul identifies himself as a carnal Christian in Romans 7:14, and speaks of two types of believer in 1 Corinthians 3:1-3...the carnal and the spiritual. Who is your favorite Bible teacher? It sounds like you've been brainwashed by someone in particular. I just can't remember his name right now...

    Grace is NOT unmerited favor!

Actually, we were by nature children of wrath. Ephesians 2:3.

    Grace is NOT unmerited favor!

In Romans 7:14, Paul begins to set forth his own life as an example of carnality in order to define carnality. As he writes in 1 Corinthians 9:22, he is becoming as the weak in order that he might gain the weak. He is using the literary tactic of IDENTIFICATION, therefore, in Romans 7:14-25 to...

    Grace is NOT unmerited favor!

In Romans 7:24 is shown that the carnal believer who is beginning to have some type of regeneration will be discontented with his state of sinfulness. Romans 7:14-25 speaks of what Paul calls "the law of sin and death" in Romans 8:2. It is clear from Romans 8:2 that it is possible to be...

    Grace is NOT unmerited favor!

The Lord desires truth in the inward parts, Psalms 51:6. The Holy Spirit is truth, 1 John 5:6. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. We must walk in the light as He is in the light for the blood of Jesus Christ His Son to cleanse us from all sin...

    Grace is NOT unmerited favor!

Galatians 5:17 would appear to teach that we still have the old flesh. But if you don't ever sin anymore, good for you! Yet, I think that you have admitted on certain occasions that you still commit sins that are not willful. I think that you are more accountable if you don't have the flesh...

    Grace is NOT unmerited favor!

I have been figuring in 1 John 3:9 to my understanding of Galatians 5:17 all along. Because I failed to mention it once, you get all out of shape.

    Grace is NOT unmerited favor!

    Grace gives victory over wrath.

    Grace is NOT unmerited favor!

If grace is not in place of wrath, where is wrath? it is nonexistent. But the scripture is clear that there is indeed wrath against sin. Maybe you should clarify what you mean; and how your statement does not negate the wrath of God towards those who are not under grace!
