    Halloween Street Preaching

It is up to the listener to judge with every teaching as to whether it is faithful to proper exegesis (see Acts of the Apostles 17:10-11). Their statements do not hold the same authority as the word of God, as you have already agreed to.

Thank you for disagreeing with my one statement. It means that you agree with my other statement. We can go from here with the understanding that the Bible has more authority than Catholic doctrine.

Anyone who communicates the word of God with faithful exegesis.

    Halloween Street Preaching

If you disagree with my one statement, then you agree with my other statement. You agree therefore, that the word of God takes precedence over Catholic doctrine.

    Halloween Street Preaching

Yes, Catholic doctrine does not have the word of the Lord to back it up; Unless you concede that the Catholic Church has been wrong for the past four or five centuries in denying that the word of God has the final authority on every issue.

So, in saying that I have failed to make my point, you appear to be saying that the Catholic Church actually teaches that the word of God takes precedence over popery and official CC doctrine. And that is fine with me...and it also takes away any contention that I, as a Protestant, might have...

You can say what ever you want to say when it comes to what you are going to type. If you feel that I have ignored something, you are free to point that out and to bring it up again to the forefront. But I usually don't even address statements if I don't think of them as a threat to my theology.

Why do so many oppose imputed righteousness?

I think, because they don't understand that imparted righteousness isn't required for the believer, but only desired. So they feel that if righteousness is imparted, that they are required to keep to that standard of righteousness and that there is condemnation if they don't measure up. I...

    Halloween Street Preaching

So you're not going to say what the teaching of the Catholic Church really is? I suppose that I failed over the fact that I don't have access to church documents... So I have asked for your help and for the help of other Catholics here (besides yourself) to tell us what the official teaching...

Why do so many oppose imputed righteousness?

Funny... Because the things that I say that you believe deny imputation, I got from the Bible... But it should be clear that the Bible does not deny imputation. Nevertheless you seem to think that I do over the fact that I bring up verses that speak of impartation... Which you seem to think...

It is my normal practice to quote only those things that I feel led to answer; so that the posts don't become convoluted with unnecessary material.

    Halloween Street Preaching

I am willing to believe you if you will say that it is a lie. But if you will not say so, then I assume that it is because it is the truth (that the Catholic Church holds some of its doctrines and ex-cathedra statements to be more authoritative than the Bible). If it is a lie, then the Bible...

    Prayers in "Jesus Precious Name"

No...you absolutely must end it with "For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.":D:cool:

Why do so many oppose imputed righteousness?

I believe that you misunderstand me.

Why do so many oppose imputed righteousness?

The law is a schoolmaster to lead men to Christ. And once faith has come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster. There are those who think they're saved who really aren't; and the same people think that they are not under the law. They need the law as a schoolmaster to show them their sin...

    Prayers in "Jesus Precious Name"

So if we don't pronounce it that way, when we call on His name, we aren't saved?

10 different NT warning-types against eternal security

Believers who "believe" will have a righteous standing before the Lord... And as the result, they will be obedient to Jesus' commandments, and will practice righteousness! This is because, whoever is forgiven much, also loves much (Luke 7:36-50, 1 John 4:19, Romans 5:5).

Why do so many oppose imputed righteousness?

Then I guess the Bible does that, too... Because I am not making any statements that I have not backed up with the word of the Lord. The reality is that the Bible does not do that, and that neither am I doing it. But you want to be in a fight. I pray that the Lord receives you as a son...

Why do so many oppose imputed righteousness?

I am unwatching this thread. @marks can take up the cause of attempting to convince you of the truth if he so desires; but I expect that he will get similar treatment from you if he does. I consider that we will know them by their fruits. We don't gather grapes of thorns or figs of thistles...

Why do so many oppose imputed righteousness?

@Stranger, Since you are misrepresenting me in so many ways; and because I also believe that I need to at this point believe that all of my own righteousnesses are as filthy rags (in spite of Revelation 19:8 (kjv)): I am not going to continue this conversation with you. I bow out. I do not...
