The Lord imparts His holiness by imparting Himself (i.e. "Christ in you, the hope of glory"); and therefore the holiness that belongs to the one to whom the Lord imparts it, is not apart from God; but in God.

God imparting holiness to someone means that they have been given His holiness so that it now belongs to them; on the inside of their very nature (see Ephesians 4:24 (kjv)).

We call the Lord holy on a different level than we call the saints holy. The saints are holy in that we are sanctified by the Holy Ghost (see Romans 15:16, 2 Thessalonians 2:13). God is holy in that His holiness is inherent in Himself.
