Without unconditional Election,no one would be saved.

God elects people from eternity based on the choices that they make in time.

    The Issue of Calvinism.

In Romans 10:9, a more accurate translation (the kjv) renders it, If thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus... You can mouth the words "Jesus is Lord" all you want but if you think that these are magic words for salvation, you are sadly mistaken. God wants you to confess the Lord...

    The Issue of Calvinism.

You may think it isn't possible; but it happens all of the time. Act 7:51, Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye. 2Ti 2:24, And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach...

Workers of the flesh will not inherit eternal life

That is a good word. Thank you.

I agree with you here (as I said, I was being facetious; attempting to show the absurdity of the opposing pov by bringing up what their argument might be; which clearly doesn't hold water)

Ex. "With God nothing shall be impossible"; while in Hebrews 6:1-8 we find that the author of Hebrews states that there is something that is impossible. So there is an exception in either one direction or the other: either there is an exception to the nothing in the first verse mentioned (Luke...

Many scripture rules have exceptions to them.

You have to chew the food (I'm being facetious). If a man doesn't work, he won't eat.

He was not in heaven. This was still in the time period before Jesus "led captivity captive." So at that time, Lazarus was located in Abraham's bosom.

I believe that the testimony in that scripture was that he had begun to stink because he had already been dead four days.

    The Issue of Calvinism.

The Lord Jesus, by His command, enabled Lazarus to come forth out of the tomb: however, even after having been given life, Lazarus had the option of saying, "I am comfortable here resting, I don't want to get up and walk out of this tomb, I prefer to "go back to sleep". In such an instance...

Workers of the flesh will not inherit eternal life

At this point I find that I still sin on a subconscious level...when I am asleep and dreaming, I sometimes have dreams that I am sinning against the Lord in some way, shape, or form. But in my practical life, when it comes to outward manifestations of sin, I think that I might even be...

Workers of the flesh will not inherit eternal life

I appreciate your answer...as well as your offer to pray for me (you also, @07-07-07). I believe that John is using hyperbole in 1 John 3:9...that he is not necessarily speaking of sinless perfection, but that he is saying that there will be a definite change in the heart and life of one who is...

I'm certain that since Lazarus had/has an immortal soul, that while he was dead in the grave, his spirit was crying out to be delivered from death. So it may be that Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead in response to the request of his heart's cry as one that was dead.

Have you ever asked the Lord to make you into a vessel of honour and/or mercy? or do you just presume that you are already a vessel of honour and/or mercy because you consider yourself to be a good person? Realize that even in your own (Calvinistic) theology you were born dead in trespasses...

God is the Saviour; but He will not do that for us apart from our asking Him to do it (Matthew 7:7-8, Luke 11:9-13). He initiated the process by telling us that if we ask, it will be given to us. He provided salvation for us by dying on the Cross. However, we must appropriate that salvation...

    The Issue of Calvinism.

John 6:28-29 is God's way of telling us that if you are going to insist that you are saved by your works, that the only "work" that will save you would be to simply believe on Jesus Christ and what He did for you on the Cross. It is not saying that faith is a work; but rather it is a literary...

Workers of the flesh will not inherit eternal life

Salvation is a free gift (Romans 5:15-19); however what the gift amounts to is the righteousness of the Lord in your life (Romans 5:17, Romans 5:19, 1 John 3:7). As to whether I have the perfection that you speak of, @07-07-07, I will be honest with you and say that I still struggle in some...

    The Issue of Calvinism.

Here's the thing: if salvation comes before confession, it is no skin off my back. Since I have confessed the Lord Jesus, that means that I was already saved before I made my confession. But if salvation doesn't come without confession, then those who have not confessed the Lord Jesus aren't...

Workers of the flesh will not inherit eternal life

@07-07-07 and @Episkopos, I would ask you this question: You don't sin anymore? When is the last time you sinned?
